Jordanian Photographer Robert Bahou has created a photo series that provides a glimpse into the souls of cats and dogs.

The project, entitled Animal Soul, features portraits of different breeds of cats and dogs.

Robert said: "I look for hints of truth in the photographs, and I have found that this is surprisingly accessible with animals. The reason for this is that I don't believe animals understand what a camera is. As a result, they don't behave the way we do when faced with a camera.

"They don't adjust themselves, turn to their good sides, pull a prepared face, or hide anything. What's left is a truly honest moment between them and the camera. I want to, in a very close and personal way, show that animals have unique and beautiful personalities."

International Polar Bear Day is celebrated every 27 February to raise awareness about the conservation status of the polar bear.

In honour of this occasion, wildlife guide, photographer and presenter Paul Goldstein has bought together his favourite images of the majestic predator.

Wimbledon-based Paul, who guides for Exodus, explains: "Polar bears are in danger of becoming an anachronism, a fading apex predator that suffers more and more as the sea ice melts earlier each year."

Highlights of over a decade of sightings include a mother and cubs sitting on an iceberg, an adult attempting to catch tasty birds on a cliff face and a little cub appearing to wave.

An 8 ft long, fully animated ?adult male polar bear? was unleashed on the freezing streets of London this morning to mark the launch of Sky Atlantic?s hotly anticipated arctic crime drama ?Fortitude?.

The bear was spotted at locations across the capital, including Hampstead Heath, Charing Cross Underground and the South Bank.

The unique ultra-realistic build was created by a team of Hollywood special effects experts and was commissioned by Sky Atlantic to celebrate the launch of its gripping new thriller, Fortitude, premiering on Thursday 29th January at 9pm.

A team of 19 prop specialists spent eight weeks designing and building the realistic replica animal. There were six to eight people working on the costume at any one time, using over 60 types of materials which included 90 square foot of sheet fur.

Photographer Paul Goldstein captured these stunning views of the Northern Lights in north Norway on Sunday (15 Feb) - and he woke his slumbering sons up to enjoy the view.

The Wimbledon-based Exodus tours guide says he had several days of appalling weather before he was able to shoot at Buksnesfjord.

"I come from Wimbledon and the greens and blues reminded me of the tennis tournament's livery. But frankly these colours could never be emulated, even in SW19. The show went on for a while so I woke up my two sons to model for a while to give me some light relief."

Anyone who has been to Alaska will testify to its untamed beauty. Photographer Tim Plowden's visit to the Tongass National Forest in Southeast Alaska and its annual salmon migration struck him with "revelatory awe". He comments: "Witnessing thousands of Pacific pink salmon was a spell-binding spectacle of sight, smell and sound. Their story enthralled me - a final selfless journey". According to Tim his first sighting of the salmon migration was shared with a bearded old man. Possibly intrigued by his fascination, as Tim watched the aquatic scene unfold before him the old man shared insights from his long years as a local fishing guide into the salmon's odyssey. Tim says: "It only intrigued me further and sealed my resolution to pay tribute to this remarkable fish on its last journey back to its natal rivers. Their final resting place".

Black bears (Ursus americanus) are opportunistic feeders, when they emerge from hibernation in spring their diet consists mainly of fresh green vegetation and switches to the seasonally abundant salmon in the summer and berries.

I beg your pardon! If this caribou looks rather put out there's a good reason for that. For to get this beautifully tranquil photo required the use of some shouted curses! British photographer Tim Plowden captured the majestic animal while spending a month travelling by boat, plane, 4x4 and RV around Alaska. His aim was to travel to the state's most remote coast, forest, mountains and tundra in search of its more elusive wildlife. When it came to photographing caribou Tim had a little help from a local. He comments: "As they were about to disappear over the other side of a ridge my host, who wanted me to get the shot I'd been talking about, used one of his tried and tested caribou calls: 'Hey asshole! Stop!'
