"It comes across initially as all sparkle and fake tans but it's easy to recognize the hard work put in by these people who range from over 60 years of age to first time teenage competitors. It was my first time witnessing the competition and I found it really touching and fun. Very much in the spirit of LA."
The 39-year-old who is originally from Toronto explains that she fell in love with photography in high school.
She is self-taught and has been shooting almost daily for over 20 years, her work focuses on the places where suburbia and sub-cultures meet, and aims to capture the beauty presented in the details of the everyday.
