Civilians get food distribution in western part of Mosul, IRAQ - 11/04/2017.
Iraqi forces backed by U.S.-led coalition airstrikes launched their assault on western Mosul in mid-February after taking the eastern sector of the city in more than three months of heavy fighting. While nearly two months of house-to-house battles have flushed the militants out of parts of the city's western sector, fighting rages nearby.
Food remains a problem. Few aid trucks reach the area and food distribution can descend into chaos.

The remains of the University of Mosul, which was burned and destroyed during a battle with Islamic State militants eastern Mosul, IRAQ - 09/04/2017.
The University of Mosul was closed by the ISIL regime in June 2014 but reopened just after a few months with new buildings and courses. Over 8,000 books and 100,000 manuscripts in its library were believed to have been destroyed.
The university was considered to have been used as a base by ISIS and was hit by Combined Joint Task Force airstrikes in March 2016. Iraqi forces recaptured it in January 2017.
A campaign is under way to restore the university library. Some 400 books have been received since the campaign was launched in February, with thousands more waiting in collections centres in the US and Europe. A French institute in Marseille has pledged to donate about 20 tonnes of books to the campaign.

Ruins of the destroyed Mosque of The Prophet Younis, Yunus or Jonah, Nabi Younes Mosque in Nineveh, eastern Mosul, IRAQ - 09/04/2017.
It was one of the most important mosques in Mosul and one of the few historic mosques in the east side of the city.
On July 24, 2014, the building was blown up by the Islamic State.
In March 2017, after ISIS was driven out, a system of tunnels about a kilometer long was found under the mosque. Although all moveable items had been removed there were still Assyrian reliefs, structures and carvings along the walls.//SIMSEKMOKU_0904.IRQ.014/Credit:Uygar Onder Simsek/MOKU/SIPA/1704131957 (FOTO: DUKAS/SIPA) *** Local Caption *** 00802274

The Iraqi forces are continuing the push on ISIS, achieving victories despite cautious progress pursued to spare lives of civilians.//SIMSEKMOKU_IRQ.009/Credit:Uygar Onder Simsek/MOKU/SIPA/1704132001 (FOTO: DUKAS/SIPA) *** Local Caption *** 00802276
