Runaway Armoured Vehicle Smashes Into Family Home
A family got the shock of their life when a runaway armoured vehicle smashed into their home.
The Nethercott's were preparing to sit down for dinner when they heard a loud crash from the back garden of their home in Portland, Dorset.
When they rushed to investigate they couldn't believe their eyes.
A GBP 1million military vehicle had smashed through the fence and demolished the family's double garage, not to mention the two cars inside.
The state-of-the-art 'Ranger' vehicle, which has been designed to be bombproof, was being unloaded from a transporter at a nearby industrial park when the incident occurred.
When it suddenly lost control the 28-ton vehicle was sent careering through the fence around the Nethercott's home.
It thundered into the garage, reducing it to rubble, before coming to rest a few feet from the kitchen where mum Sharon was cooking.
Frozen in horror she stood viewing the devastation before suddenly remembering that her youngest son, Adam, 12, had been playing in front of the house.
Thankfully, after some frantic searching the youngster was found safe and sound.
According to police a malfunction caused the vehicle to roll backwards out of control.
