US TRANSPORT SHIP USS WAKEFIELD ON FIRE AT SEA
Photo Shows: Smoke is pouring from the US transport ship "Wakefield" as the vessel caught fire while it was returning to its home port with a convoy. On the left is a destroyer, one of many ships that helped in the rescue of the 1600 passengers and crew.
The Wakefield, which was formerly the luxury liner SS Manhattan, has been salvaged, and is now in an Atlantic port.
