The Boys from the White Stuff on the road in France for their first summer season in their VW campervan in 1986. They are now worth millions.
British friends George Treves (right) and Sean Thomas (with camera) from The Boys from the White Stuff in1986 with their VW camper van on a campsite near Valras Plage in the south of France after starting the White Stuff label the preceding winter season. This picture is taken during their first summer season where they sold screen print tees and funky shorts all made in the camper van to holidaymakers via english sailing instructors that worked on the beaches. In return for a free camp pitch and sales intros plus perhaps some beer, the instructors had free shorts and tee shirts.
In 1985 in the French Alps ski bum Sean and catering student George struck upon selling t-shirts and sweats to skiiers. Thus, White Stuff was born. White Stuff is now a British fashion and lifestyle brand that sells womenÕs, menÕs and kids' clothing, accessories, homeware and gifts in over 120 shops in the United Kingdom, shops in Germany, via mail-order catalogues and through its website.
