NEWS - USA: FBI durchsucht Trumps Haus in Mar-a-Lago
August 8, 2022, Palm Beach, Florida, USA: 'Under siege': Trump says FBI raided Mar-a-Lago. “These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida is currently under siege, raided and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” Trump said in a statement, calling the move “prosecutorial misconduct” and an attempt by Democrats to hurt a possible 2024 presidential bid. FBI took 15 boxes of materials from his home. Mar-a-Lago means 'sea-to-lake' in Spanish, referring to the fact that the resort extends the entire width of Palm Beach, from the Atlantic Ocean to what is now the Intracoastal Waterway–formerly Lake Worth. A resort and national historic landmark, built from 1924 to 1927 by cereal-company heiress and socialite M. Post. The 126-room, 62,500-square-foot mansion since 1994 contains the Mar-a-Lago Club, a members-only club. Purchased by Trump in 1985 for around $10 million. Converted it into the Mar-a-Lago Club in 1993. His family maintains private quarters in a separate, closed-off area of the house and grounds. Referring to it as the Winter White House and his 'Southern White House'. Hosted meetings with international leaders, including Japanese PM Abe and Chinese President Xi. In September 2019, Mar-a-Lago became the primary residence for Mr. and Mrs. Trump, who previously held primary residence in New York City. It is the 24th largest mansion in the USA. In 2018, Forbes estimated the value of the estate at around $160 million. (Credit Image: © Charles Trainor Jr/Miami Herald via ZUMA Press Wire (FOTO: DUKAS/ZUMA)
