FEATURE - Die Siegerbilder der Wetter-Fotografie der Royal Meteorological Society
Mandatory Credit: Photo by Boris Jordan/RMetS/Bav Media/Shutterstock (10751053c)
The picture shows Mammatus Outbreak by Boris Jordan, aged 37, from Germany. It was taken in Leipzig. He said: 'This was by far the most spectacular mammatus display I've ever seen in my entire life. After a line of thunderstorms passed by and the sun disappeared behind the horizon, low-hanging mammatus clouds began to shine red and blue. At this moment I was just speechless, as the sky really looked like not from this planet. And as a nice bonus, a distant lightning made the composition perfect. Mammatus mostly appear in association with strong thunderstorms, if the sinking air, which contains high amount of liquid water or ice, is cooler than the surrounding air. The 26 finalists for this year's Weather Photographer of the Year have been announced and the public are being invited to vote for their favourite. The Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS), which celebrates its 170th birthday this year, in association with AccuWeather, has put the shortlisted pictures on their website and people can visit photocrowd.com/wpotyvote to vote until September 2.

Bodie Chester-Canavan, 6 from Bushey, Hertfordshire pictured with 800 abandoned buckets appear at Potters Field Park, London, in a moving tribute to the 800 children who die every day, on average, due to a lack of clean water and sanitation. Just one bucket in the installation, part of WaterAid?s #Untapped appeal, could hold almost enough safe drinking water for one child for a week. Every £1 donated to the #Untapped appeal until 31st January 2018 will be matched by the UK Government. Photo Credit should read WaterAid / Ollie Dixon.

A photographer has captured a literal gay pride on camera.
Nicole Cambré, a lawyer from Brussels, snapped two male adult lions getting more than affectionate last month (March).
She explains: "I saw those two male lions mating during a safari in the Lagoon area of the Kwando concession in Botswana. According to our guide they had only started their behaviour that same week.
"It is the first time I have seen homosexual behaviour in lions. With the light just around sunset, it gave some spectacular images."

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Keith Morris/LNP/REX/Shutterstock (5613251c)
After a series of intense winter storms, and at very low tide, the eerie remains of the 'lost' bronze age oak forest appear along the beach at Borth, just north of Aberystwyth on the west Wales coast. The trees give some credence to the enduring legend of the 'sunken kingdom' of Cantre'r Gwaelod that according to legend was lost under the waters of Cardigan Bay. Much more of the sand that has usually covered the stumps of these ancient trees has been washed way over the winter, and there is some concern locally that the recently completed multi-million pound sea defence scheme to protect the low lying village is exacerbating the situation, and possibly threatening the continuing preservation of the forest.
