    Plastic Bottle Recycling in Bangladesh
October 14, 2025, Dhaka, Bangladesh: Workers sort used plastic bottles in a recycling factory in Dhaka, Bangladesh. They help to prevent the bottles from being discarded, sent to landfill, where they can take 1,000 years to biodegrade, or incinerated, which produces toxic fumes. The emission of CO2 and other greenhouse gases will be reduced if recycling takes place in the production of new plastics. This small yet significant act supports environmental sustainability by promoting a responsible cycle of reuse, reducing the strain on natural resources, and safeguarding our ecosystem for future generations. NEWS - Enorme Nachfrage nach recycelten Fässern aufgrund des gestiegenen Heizölpreises in Bangladesch
August 21, 2022, Narayanganj, Dhaka, Bangladesh: Colorful oil drums are stacked in rows by workers in a warehouse in Narayanganj, Bangladesh. The colorful containers which can hold about 250 liters of oil are used for storing fuels including petrol, diesel and octane. Even as people are grappling with rising inflation amid the Russia-Ukraine war, the Bangladesh government has raised fuel oil prices as much as 51.68%, citing a global hike. Because of the increase in fuel oil price, There is a huge demand for this barrels as Recycling of barrels will cut some of the costs incurred. More than 1,000 barrels are sorted through and piled up every day depending on whether they are metal or plastic. The site holds up to 20,000 barrels. The empty barrels are unloaded from lorries at the site before being stored and returned to oil companies to be reused. Workers here earn £5 a day. May 24, 2018 - Kilauea, Hawaii, United States: Poor weather at the summit of K?lauea has obscured views of Halema'uma'u for much of today, but a brief break in the weather around noon allowed HVO's webcam to capture this image of an ash plume rising from the crater at 12:17 p.m. HST. Even though weather has obscured visual observations of the ongoing summit explosions, HVO scientists are able to track them using signals from monitoring instruments, such as seismometers. The Kilauea volcano erupted May 17 sending ash 30,000 feet into the air and forcing residents to evacuate. Fresh magma has started to mix with decades-old magma, sending a flow of lava into roads and to the ocean. Thousands of people who live near the lava flows have been forced to evacuate their homes. At least 23 fissures have been created by Kilauea's heightened activity. One fissure is releasing lava that has reached Highway 137, shutting down a four-mile stretch of the road, and dozens of homes have been destroyed. Officials are also warning residents about toxic sulfur dioxide gas released into the air from the fissures. (USGS / Polaris) (FOTO:DUKAS/POLARIS) *** Local Caption *** 06214695

Cracks continued to open and widen, some with horizontal and vertical offsets, in the area during the past 24 hours. These cracks are caused by the underlying intrusion of magma into the lower East Rift Zone. (USGS / Polaris) (FOTO:DUKAS/POLARIS) *** Local Caption *** 06202956

Nearly 2,000 people have been barred from their homes for 10 days as the Kilauea volcano pours lava through a rural neighborhood about 35 miles from Hilo, the island’s largest city. At least 36 structures have been destroyed by lava flows, including 26 homes. Plumes of poisonous gases are killing off trees and grasses left untouched by the lava. The volcano appears ready to explode with the damage expected to radiate about 12 miles from the crater. (USGS / Polaris) (FOTO:DUKAS/POLARIS) *** Local Caption *** 06197789
