    Inside Israel secret nuclear program
May 1, 2011 - Nahal Sorek, Israel: EXCLUSIVE: Israel's top secret Nahal Sorek nuclear site is located near Yavne, west of Beersheba. It is Israel's oldest nuclear reactor, bought from the USA and operating since 1960, using enriched uranium provided by the USA. Activities at Sorek include research and development of top secret nuclear weapons program, an underground installation in the Negev desert to monitor attempts by Iran to test nuclear devices. In 2007, it conducted a test consisting of three strong explosions deliberately set off using 15 tons of liquid explosives, to see how they register on equipment at the underground site. Each blast was equivalent to a seismic tremor of 2.4 on the Richter scale. Seismographs and other equipment able to detect earth tremors transmitted the data directly to the International Atomic Nuclear Agency (IAEA) in Vienna via the Nahal Sorek plant which was also able to detect perfectly tests in India and Pakistan. Israel and the West suspect Iran of trying to secretly build nuclear arms under the cover of a civilian atomic power program. (Ziv Koren / Polaris) (FOTO:DUKAS/POLARIS)

REPORTAGE - Doel: Das verlassene Dorf neben dem Atomkraftwerk
May 7, 2016 - Doel, East Flanders, Belgium: An abandoned gas station and other buildings covered in graffiti seen in the Belgian village of Doel. The historic town is home to Nuclear Power Plant Doel, with reactors that produce electricity for customers in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Doel is threatened with complete demolition due to the future enlargement of the Port of Antwerp. Many historical buildings will be destroyed, although some residents remain in protest. Recently, Germany has asked Belgium to shut down the two nuclear reactors stating safety concerns, due to both the aging of the infrastructure and terrorism concerns.
