A little procession passing the Oberoi Hotel carries votive offerings for miles along Legian beach to the temple of Petitenget. In contrast to the crowded Kuta Beach further south, this northern stretch invites the solitary walker. Every Balinese has a naturally erect and graceful bearing. This is in fact very necessary, in order to carry the towers of votive gifts, weighing up to 50 kg, safely on the head over long distances. After the ceremony and the procession the fruits will be eaten. That's sure.
