You Floated My Battleship! The Superships That Carry Superloads
When the weighty problem of transporting superloads around the world arises, a bulky breed of superships are ready to take up the challenge.

But rather than standard cargo containers, these vessels are capable of floating unimaginable loads including full oil rigs, multiple nuclear-powered submarines and, in one epic voyage, 18 barges from China to the Netherlands.

Currently, the Australian Navy are employing the services of Netherlands-based shipping company Dockwise's MV Blue Marlin, the largest cargo transport ship in the world.

The ship is transporting the first of two aircraft carrier hulls from Spain to Melbourne.

The Australian Landing Helicopter Dock (ALHD) Canberra is the first to commence the 12,000 nautical mile voyage around the Cape of Good Hope, estimated to be completed in 45 days after setting off on 20 August from Punta Langosteira, a new large port just south of La Coruna, northern Spain.

Spanish company Navantia has completed construction of the ships from the keel to the flight deck, and now the hulls are being transported for completion by BAE Systems Australia. The second hull, the ALHD Adelaide, will be transported in early 2014.

Blue Marlin is more than up to the task, being 712ft in length, larger than two football pitches, 138ft deep and able to carry 75,000 tonnes. That said, the ALHD Canberra is so large it overhangs the Blue Marlin deck by 180ft.

Blue Marlin's load capability also meant it was the ship of choice for the U.S. Navy when they had to transport the stricken destroyer USS Cole back to the United States after the warship was damaged by an Al-Qaeda suicide bomber attack while anchored in the port of Aden, Yemen.

The Blue Marlin is manned by a 24 crew and is powered by 17,000 horsep...

What were they thinking? Fashion Disasters

It would seem that even the most fashion conscious of celebs can have an off day.

The stylists of these dreadfully dressed divas were obviously not around when they stepped out of the front door.

If they had they surely would have uttered that immortal line: "You're not going out like that!"

When left unattended there's no end of fashion faux pas a star can commit when looking for a 'stand out from the crowd' outfit.

But then looking fabulous 24/7 is something not even the most dedicated of A-listers can achieve.

And navigating the tricky minefield of fashion can be tricky at the best of times and pure style suicide at the worst.

Your 'unusual' outfit can just as easily be feted on every best dressed list as see you plunging to the bottom of the reject pile.

All of which goes to show that not even the hottest stars are immune to the odd fashion disaster.

The 3D Street Art of Edgar Muller
This dramatic piece of art will CRACK you up.

Artist Edgar Mueller has created a huge work of 3D street art call The Crevasse.

It took the German master of optical illusions five days to paint the giant fissure in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland.

He worked from sunrise to sunset to make the 250 square metre image which appears to show a fault in the earth's crust.

Created for the town's "Festival of World Culture" last year, Muller's jaw-dropping art involved clever planning so that when the picture is viewed from a certain angle it looks totally three-dimensional.

And locals wasted no time having fun with the work by pretending to teeter precariously on the edge of the deep hole.

Edgar explains: "3D street painting itself is a very new artform which only a handful of people do worldwide. Its nature is to trick people's eyes and show them a new 'reality'.

"The technique itself is called anamorphism and has been known since the Middle Ages. It was used by famous painters like Michelangelo, da Vinci and others in their murals."

Edgar's previous works include sharks jumping out of pavements, raging waterfalls on city roads and a German street collapsing into a lava pool.
