The tunnel is believed to be a key military command center for Hamas, from which the October 7th massacre was directed. Inside the tunnel, which runs roughly seven meters deep and stretches for hundreds of meters, IDF identified the body of Hamas' military chief Mohammed Sinwar, as well as Mohammed Shabana, commander of the Rafah Brigade, and a number of other militants.
