A British woman rendered housebound by dibilatating illness has found new confidence - thanks to a raccoon.

Kasey Valentine, 24, from Stevenage, adopted Cody from someone who wasn't sure how to look after him.

Since then, the two have become inseparable and the small mammal has given a focus needed to leave her house.

Kasey explains: "I have both M.E. and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which is a rare connective tissue disorder. It means I have constant pain and my joints dislocate a lot, as well as leaving me prone to bruising and other issues

"I never really left the house before due to anxiety as I find it hard to walk too far without feeling pains and exhausted and now I make sure I go out every single day, in order for both me and Cody to get adequate exercise."

Bad weather; sometimes you just have to sit tight and endure the storm.

This hardy grey seal pup seemed resigned to its situation on a windswept British beach last weekend.

Wildlife photographer Kevin Sawford headed out on a stormy day with the wind gusting over 50 mph to photograph a small colony of seals on the Norfolk coast.

He says: "I wanted to capture images of the harsh conditions the seals have to tolerate on days like this. The gusting wind constantly drove grains of sand through the air forcing the seals to take whatever cover they could. By keeping my distance, I was able to watch the seals behaviour and noticed that, despite these conditions, the pups seemed to be able to sleep through the adverse conditions for a lot of the time."

A photographer has captured a series of thought-provoking images of refugees' discarded life jackets and rubber dinghies on the island of Lesbos, Greece.

Photographer Frederic Seguin captured the images that show the impact of the refugee crisis on the small island of Lesvos in Greece.

Lesvos, or Lesbos, is a tourist destinations, known for its landscapes and beaches.

Being very close to Turkey makes Lesvos a strategic entry point for refugees.

Thousands of refugees cross the Aegean Sea every week on tiny dinghy boats to reach the shores of Lesvos and the volume of movement can be seen by the photos of discarded life jackets and boats.

Haunting Photos Highlight The Ebola Crisis In Liberia
Kieran Kesner is a 23-year-old photojournalist who spent eight days covering the the plight of those infected with Ebola in Liberia.

His striking photographs capture the plight of the Liberian community, who can only hope and pray not to catch the devastating disease.

During his stay Kesner also photographed the burial teams and the MSF doctors (Doctors without Borders).

The current outbreak in West Africa is the largest and most severe outbreak of Ebola since the virus was first discovered in 1976.

Since the first case was noted in March 2014, there have been more cases and deaths than previous outbreaks combined; the diseases has already taken over 3,000 lives.

On August 27, 2014 Kesner boarded Delta airlines flight 2608 ready to begin his first international assignment.

"After four layovers, I arrived at the airport in Liberia. The plane came to a rough landing as it skidded to a stop on the decaying runway.

"Upon exiting passengers were met with an army of people rushing to take our temperature with thermometers shaped like guns aimed at our heads. I would soon come to realize these thermometers might as well be real guns pointed to our heads."

After washing his hands with chlorine, Kesner proceeded through the cacophony of customs where his passport was quickly stamped and he was sent on his way.

"Over the next week I would come face to face with Ebola; photographing the sick, dead and every stage of the virus in between. Realizing the severity of this epidemic that sets a country back after steadily making gains from the destruction caused by civil war from 1989-2003."

Kesner recalls when his taxi driver yelled out of the car window: "Why are they...

World's Biggest Underground Trampoline Set to Open in Snowdonia
The world's first underground trampoline is set to open this Friday (4 July) in Snowdonia.

Thrill Seekers who may have already visited Europe's largest zip wire in north Wales, now have another reason to return.

This giant underground playground is the first of its kind in the world. The attraction has already received huge interest with over 160 people already booked on.

Bounce Below will bring trampolining to a new terrain.
Unlike anything seen before, three huge trampolines will hang in the old slate cavern at varying levels, linked together by 60ft slides.

Visitor enjoying Bounce Below will be taken to the impressive 100 x 60 foot cavern, which sits by an old mining train and kitted out in special overalls and a helmet before being let loose in the caves to bounce, climb and slide in the most unique setting.

The walls are kitted out with techni-coloured lights which illuminate the subterranean background with vibrant colours.

The LED lights also reveal the beauty of the underground cavern, which was dug out by hand for 4500 hours to remove 500 tons of rubble in a process akin to the slate mining that took place there.

Bounce Below is part of the Zip World group that won international acclaim last March when they installed a pair of mile long zip lines at Zip World Velocity, that sees riders fly through the skies at over 100mph, 500ft in the air.

Zip World Titan opened last month (5 June), is another new site by the team behind ZipWorld.

Both attractions follow the opening of Zip World Velocity at Penrhyn Qquarry, Bethesda, which won international a...
