Kiss was formed in New York City in 1973 with Paul Stanley on vocals and rhythm guitar, Gene Simmons on vocals and bass guitar, Ace Fehley on lead guitar and vocals and Peter Criss on drums. The band rose to prominence in the mid 70's with their flamboyant costumes, make-up, and elaborate live performances with pyrotechnics. To date the band has 24 gold albums and has sold over 100 million worldwide. In 2009 Kiss was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Several line-up changes occurred throughout the bands existence notably Vinnie Vincent for Frehley and Eric Carr for Criss in the 80's.
