Toxic spill affects the Besos River
The Bes˜s River Park has been affected by a toxic ammonia spill into the Bes˜s River, caused by a factory fire last week in Polinyˆ. The spill has caused foam in the river and numerous dead fish. One of the groups responsible for cleaning up and helping with the cleanup tasks are the Forest Defense Groups, which voluntarily dedicate themselves to removing dead fish as well as identifying areas with high concentrations of ammonia and foam.
El Parque Fluvial del Bes˜s se ha visto afectado por el vertido t—xico de amon’aco al r’o Bes˜s, causado por el incendio de una f‡brica la semana pasada en Polinyˆ. El vertido ha provocado espuma en el r’o y numerosas especies de peces muertos. Uno de los encargados de limpiar y ayudar con las tareas de limpieza son las Agrupaciones de Defensa Forestal, que voluntariamente se dedican a retirar peces muertos, as’ como a identificar zonas con alta concentraci—n de amon’aco y espuma.
