They look like creatures from another planet, but these weird specimens are all marine life captured by talented underwater photographer Kei Nomiyama.
In his photo series Blackwater, the 36-year-old presents the amazing creatures discovered in the sea at night.
His work includes the quirky sight of a 'jellyfish rider', a lobster larvae hitching a ride on a hapless jellyfish, and the Phronima Sedentaria, a species of amphipod crustacean, that Kei says reminds him of the sci-fi film 'Aliens'.
Kei explains: "I live in Matsuyama city at Shikoku island, smallest of the four main islands in Japan. I mainly take these photos at Omi-island in Yamaguchi-prefecture. The Omi-island is located in the south of the main island of Japan and facing the Sea of Japan.

The humble Swiss Army Knife has become trendy.
To celebrate maker Victorinox's 130th birthday this year designers at British start-up Saktory have put their heads together and decided it was time the practical and functional tool received a crafty make over.
The iconic pocket knives - known for their multiple pull-out tools, such as a corkscrew and tweezers - are known for their distinctive red handles.
But now Saktory say they have worked with Victorinox UK to "take things to a whole new dimension making the product trendy, exciting and very personal".
Saktory say: "The Swiss Army Knife is our art canvas. We love the Victorinox range, and have worked hard with designers from across the globe to carefully produce designs which resonate with Victorinox fans from all walks of life giving them that wow feeling."
Priced between GBP 34.99 and GBP 74.99, the partnership hope the eye-catching penknifes will make handy stock-fillers.

These Adoptive Parents Create A New Breakfast Scene For Their Children Everyday
A new father has shared his heart-warming story of adoption in his blog 'Becoming Pappy'.
The new dad wanted the children to feel comfortable and have fun from the moment they woke up and ingeniously decided to turn every morning into a breakfast bonanza.
Every morning he creates a new breakfast experience for the children, so far they have woken up to 61 different scenes.
After 18 months of pursuing their dream to adopt, and one failed match, the couple are delighted that they have finally been granted their wish to start a family.
Rob, who is known as pappy to the children, has been with his partner Sam for over ten years, and they celebrated their civil partnership in 2010. They live in the West Midlands with their children.
"My favourite breakfasts have been the monkey and dragon on the castle, the rocket blasting off to space, monkey and panda's veggie patch and the first day with the Dinosaurs because it was such an immensely emotional and exciting moment to have them living with us finally." adds Rob.
Some of his other creations include a whale joining the family table, a visit from a lion and monkey spiderman, the wedding of Mr & Mrs elephant and a even toy car drive in.
Rob, who works in marketing PR certainly put his skills to test when coming up with an exciting way to welcome their two new children into the home.
He explains that he and Sam had always discussed having children, and after deciding not to go down the surrogacy route they knew they wante...
