Mexico: Casa Xochiquetzal - Shelter for elderly sex workers in Mexico City
MEXICO CITY - 2008-2012: María Isabel, a resident of Casa Xochiquetzal, lies on her bed at the shelter on October 2, 2013. Casa Xochiquetzal is a shelter for elderly sex workers in Mexico City. It gives the women refuge, food, health services, a space to learn about their human rights and courses to help them rediscover their self-confidence and deal with traumatic aspects of their lives. Casa Xochiquetzal provides a space to age with dignity for a group of vulnerable women who are often invisible to society at large. It is the only such shelter existing in Latin America. Mexico: Casa Xochiquetzal - Shelter for elderly sex workers in Mexico City
MEXICO CITY - 2008-2012: Norma, a resident of Casa Xochiquetzal, rests in her bedroom on may 24, 2013. Although she remembers her early childhood fondly, she was abused by one of her brother¿s friends when she was 9 years old and was also assaulted by a priest where she lived. Soon after, she decided to find work as a waitress in various red-light districts. She always liked watching the dancers close up¿¿but not so close she¿d get burnt,¿ as her co-workers used to joke. She¿s a cheerful, extroverted woman who has the dirt on absolutely everyone. Casa Xochiquetzal is a shelter for elderly sex workers in Mexico City. It gives the women refuge, food, health services, a space to learn about their human rights and courses to help them rediscover their self-confidence and deal with traumatic aspects of their lives. Visit from Marlene .
There are still plenty of guesses flying around about how Marlene Dietrich's age . But one thing is certain - that she is always willing to put her fame and her talent to generous free use for a worthy charity - and especially for children charities . Just now she is appearing in cabaret in London at the Cafe de Paris . But recently she was the star turn in a huge midnight charity matinee organised by Noel Coward in aid of the Actor's Orphanage , of which he is President . This show raised over £10,000 for the Orphanage . Soon afterwards , President Noel took Marlene - the biggest money - spinner on his bill - down to see the children of the Orphanage in their fine building in Chertsey in Surrey . The sun for once was shone , the 32 boys and girls were scrupulously washed and tidied up m and at 5 o'clock up drove a gleaming Rolls Royce and out stepped Coward and Dietrich .
PICTURE SHOWS:- ....then Marlene read to Jonathan from a book of illustrated Bible Stories . And Jonathan read to her .
