Soon afterwards, she was signed to a seven-year contract by Warner Bros., where she starred as a sweetly beautiful romantic heroine, often opposite Errol Flynn, in films such as "Captain Blood" (1935), "The Adventures of Robin Hood" (1938) and "The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex" (1939). She won two Best Actress Academy Awards - for "To Each His Own" (1946) and "The Heiress" (1949) - and received a further three nominations - one of which was for "Gone With the Wind" (1939). Her sister is the actress Joan Fontaine.

American comedian, actor and film star Buster Keaton, c1930s-c1940s(?). Keaton (1895-1966) is best remembered for his silent films of the 1920s, in which he performed physical comedy with a deadpan expression, earning himself the nickname 'The Great Stone Face'. His career suffered in the 1930s as he was frustrated by the restrictions imposed on him by the Hollywood studio system, but his fortunes rebounded after he appeared live at Cirque Medrano in Paris in 1947.
