British Prime Minister David Cameron with embattled Murdoch editor Rebekah Brooks
June 17, 2009, England, UK: Britain's tabloid phone-hacking scandal has now enveloped Prime Minister David Cameron, who feeling the political heat from his own close ties to individuals within Rupert Murdoch's media empire, cut short his trip to Africa and called an emergency session of Parliament so he could address lawmakers on the scandal. It is reported that Cameron and his wife shared a family dinner with James Murdoch, the deputy chief operating officer of News Corporation, and his wife Kathryn, and Rebekah Brooks, the chief executive of News International, and her husband Charlie on December 23 last year. Two days previously, Cameron had removed decision-making powers over the BSkyB bid from Vince Cable after the Business Secretary made unguarded comments that he had gone to war with Rupert Murdoch, the chairman of News Corp. Cameron also has admitted he met with Rebekah Brooks, the former News International chief executive, who was arrested for her role in the scandal, at his 44th birthday party. ///Ed Milliband at a Summer party hosted by Rupert Murdoch..
