A photographer has captured a series of charming photos of Berlin's post-war housing apartment blocks.

Copenhagen-based photographer Malte Brandenburg, 37, travelled back to his birth place (Berlin) to capture the photo series 'Stacked'.
Malte said: "I wanted to highlight the architectural structure of these buildings rather than their social context. I think by making them comparable you notice that they all have something in common, but that the architects still maintained their individual small little features.
"For me they are not ugly leftovers from past decades in a city?s skyline. I find they tell a story, which is still relevant today, namely the tension between engineering and the human element.

Photographer Malte Brandenburg said:"Initially these buildings meant a vast improvement of life for the middle class in Berlin. They provided more space and were affordable, didn?t cost much in construction and were built quickly. However with time, these buildings were not really needed anymore by their initial inhabitants. Suddenly they turned into a burden for the city as the urban lifestyle of its citizens changed and efficient and cheap housing was not of real interest anymore for the masses."

Susan Boyle Dreams A Dream As Hollywood Listens
SUSAN BOYLE DREAMS A DREAM AS HOLLYWOOD LISTENS
Not only has Susan Boyle become a global internet sensation overnight, she has even caught the eye of Hollywood's finest.
The 47-year-old unemployed Scot from West Lothian appeared on last Saturday's 'Britain's Got Talent' and wowed both judges and audience with her rendition of Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'I Dreamed A Dream' from the musical 'Les Miserables'.
The video clip of her performance on the internet has so far been watched a staggering 6 million times and has brought her attention and interview requests from all over the world, including Australia and America.
Despite her unglamorous appearance, her singing has moved many to tears, touching even the cold hearts of judges Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan, and immediately drawing comparisons to previous winner and current opera singing star Paul Potts.
In the United States her performance was featured on the NBC Today Show, squeezing tears out of host Kathie Lee Gifford and winning the adulation and fascination of A-list Hollywood couple Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, who were watched the clip on YouTube, prompting Kutcher to write on his Twitter page: "This just made my night", with wife Moore replying: "You saw it made me teary!"
Even though she has only made it through the first stage of auditions, reports suggest that Simon Cowell is lining up a record deal for her and cast recordings of the track have entered the official midweek singles chart and iTunes chart - Susan is already the bookie's favourite to win the show, offering odds of 5/2.

The pictures show perfectly symmetrical concrete apartment blocks, pictured against blue skies.

A photographer has captured a series of charming photos of Berlin's post-war housing apartment blocks.
The pictures show perfectly symmetrical concrete apartment blocks, pictured against blue skies.

Light art of Rafael Rodrigo, Spain - Feb 2012

Pablo Picass-Glow Lights Up Art World
These comic-style stickman drawings are created using a clever process called 'light painting.'
Artist Rafael Rodrigo, 39, creates the unique artworks using a torch and a camera set to a long exposure.
When creating his scenes he has anything from three minutes to just 30 seconds to trace his artwork in midair - ensuring the arcs of light resemble recognisable figures.
In some case she makes use of carefully placed props - such as balancing a guitar to make it look as if it being played by a musician or using goalposts to create the illusion of stickman diving after a ball.
Rafael said: "I first got into the medium by playing around with a lighter and a camera.
"Unfortunately, the lighter kept extinguishing so I started using torches as the images got more complex.
"I enjoy drawing in the air with a light, moving in the darkness and only seeing the results when I connect the camera to my computer.
"I also like interacting with props to make the images more interesting. I don't have a favourite, each one is different.
"Some are more funny, others are more expressive".
Rafael added: "When I started I didn't even know there was a form of art called light painting, I'm just excited to see where it takes me".
