Blackpool Zoo is marking Orangutan Awareness Week by auctioning unique works of art hand crafted by its male orangutan to raise money for charity.
Ramon, who is 17, has produced a series of paintings after picking up the skill as a youngster while being hand-reared by keepers at Leningrad Zoo in St Petersburg.
All funds raised will be donated to the The Orangutan Foundation and is intended to support those helping orangutans whose natural habitat has been devastated as a result of the raging forest fires in Indonesia.
The auction will take place on Blackpool Zoo?s Facebook pages throughout Orangutan Awareness Week: https://www.facebook.com/blackpoolzoo/
The Zoo is also releasing Ramon?s extraordinary life story, which documents his journey from boy to man.

Blackpool Zoo is marking Orangutan Awareness Week by auctioning unique works of art hand crafted by its male orangutan to raise money for charity.
Ramon, who is 17, has produced a series of paintings after picking up the skill as a youngster while being hand-reared by keepers at Leningrad Zoo in St Petersburg.

Kick Off: Brave Mother Giraffe Defends Calf From Pride of Lions
This amazing footage shows a plucky giraffe mother fending off a pack of hungry lions - with a few long-legged kicks.
Safari-goers Bill and Barbara Westbrook were visiting Kicheche Bush Camp in the Olare Conservancy of the Masai Mara when they sensed the giraffe were being viewed as a tasty meal.
Speaking about her seventh visit to the camp, Barbara, from Queensland, explains: "Each time I think we can never beat the last, but this was remarkable, going on for almost half an hour as the mother protected her calf ferociously from the young pride. It was heart in the mouth stuff as we felt we might be witnessing something brutal as the casual menace of the sub-adult lions showed little signs of abating. Eventually the giraffes got away and we breathed again."
Kicheche Co-owner and photographer guide Paul Goldstein said: "I have met Bill and Barbara a few times and they always seem to have incredible luck on their safaris; but they do put a lot of time in. Somehow Barbara managed to keep the camera still during all this drama. I am supremely jealous of this encounter but also very happy for them, next time they come over I will stick to them like glue."
