Harry Potter's stunt double David Holmes: 'Breaking my neck made a man of me'
For David Holmes, doubling for Daniel Radcliffe was a dream come true. He had been on the smash-hit series from the start, thought he'd be there till the end ... and then an accident on one of the final films left him paralysed. This is what happened next.
The routine had already been rehearsed. A fight with the snake Nagini was supposed to send Harry Potter flying. And it certainly did that. David Holmes, Daniel Radcliffe's stunt double, felt the impact, and it hurt. But that was the nature of stunt work. He was always taking a knock, and showing off another bruise.
"I knew straight away," Holmes says today, 14 years later. "I knew I'd broken my neck. I was fully conscious."
That day not only changed Holmes's life for ever, it changed the lives of so many people on the set.
Stunt coordinator Greg Powell, who had to live with getting it wrong; best friend Marc Mailley, who had to take over from Holmes as the stunt double; actor Daniel Radcliffe, who had been coached in gymnastics by Holmes and adored him. And on it went

FEATURE - Lookalike: Ex-Militärpolizistin kassiert über 1500 Pfund pro Stunde als Mariah Carey Doppelgängerin
Jessie as Mariah (PA Real Life/Collect) *** Ex-military policewoman rakes in over £1,500 an hour as a Mariah
Carey lookalike
By Harriet Whitehead, PA Real Life

An ex-military policewoman is fulfilling her 'Fantasy' and raking in over £1,500 an hour
for impersonating her idol Mariah Carey after more than 4,000 fans subscribed to
her YouTube channel to see her lip-sync to the divas hits.
Now Jessie Castro, 39, of Orlando, Florida, USA - who has appeared in a
documentary and on US talk shows after her lookalike videos went viral - is preparing
for a full-on festive season, when she will come into her own lip- syncing to the
singer's Yuletide classic, All I Want For Christmas Is You.
And with multi-Grammy award winning Mariah turning 50 this year, launching a new
book this month and releasing an album in October, mum-of-one Jessie is anticipating
a lucrative few months ahead - even though her performing work is just a 'side hustle'

Florida.
She said: "I cant say theres an average amount I make each year because I can go
for months without doing gigs, but it must be in excess of $20,000 (£15,640) annually,
if I do a gig every three months and two a week at Christmas.
It was after a video call with the world number one Madonna impersonator, Chris
America, following a lookalike convention in 2015 that Jessie, who has a son, Arian,
12 - having noticed a surge in people saying she looked like Mariah after her album,
Butterfly, went multi-platinum in 1997 - started to develop her career.
She said: I had met Chris America over video call and she became kind of a mentor
to me. She was amazing. She is a star among lookalikes.
She told me, You need to charge what youre worth.'
"And, while there are a million Elvis and Marilyn Monroe impersonators out there,
there were not many Mariahs. So, without any real competition, I b

And with multi-Grammy award winning Mariah turning 50 this year, launching a new
book this month and releasing an album in October, mum-of-one Jessie is anticipating
a lucrative few months ahead - even though her performing work is just a 'side hustle'
to her current job as a college administrator at Full Sail University in Winter Park,
So, without any real com

She told me, You need to charge what youre worth.'
"And, while there are a million Elvis and Marilyn Monroe impersonators out there,
there were not many Mariahs. So, without any real competition, I b
