  • Padma River Erosion In Bangladesh

    Padma River Erosion In Bangladesh
July 8, 2025, Jazira, Shariatpur, Bangladesh: In Jazira, Shariatpur district of Bangladesh, sudden river erosion along the Padma Bridge protection embankment has devoured at least 10 houses and business establishments. In a matter of moments, homes are collapsing into the river right before the eyes of riverside residents, most of whom had no time to save their belongings. Desperate to protect their last possessions, people are dismantling their homes and relocating them to safer areas. Geo-bags are being dumped temporarily in an effort to halt the erosion. Notably, the Padma River is considered one of the most erosion-prone rivers in the world. (Credit Image: © Syed Mahabubul Kader/ZUMA Press Wire (FOTO: DUKAS/ZUMA)

An autonomous self-balancing chair to help the elderly and disabled to navigate busy airports has been unveiled.

The designer team behind it said it wanted helpI bring back the joy of air travel for people with limited mobility.

The two-wheeled Geo concept is electric powered and fits into the space of a dining chair.

The Geo designers are now aiming to work with a specific airport to create a proof-of-concept,

It can drive autonomously without the need for pedals or a steering wheel, and has an onboard virtual assistant that can provide directions and send reminders to help get passengers to their gate on time

A consortium of three UK companies collaborated in the development — industrial designer firm PriestmanGoode, mobility company Centaur Robotics and software company Naurt.

At the moment, wheelchair using plane passengers are typically asked to arrive one hour before other passengers.

LEOPARD SPOTTED IN LONDON - Nat Geo 'WILD' unleashed the first ever realistic animatronic leopard, which was spotted roaming the streets of London in the early hours of this morning. The leopard has been created to mark the start of Big Cat Week and raise awareness about serious threats to the habitats of big cats, and their dwindling numbers. Leopards are faced with up to 90% habitat loss, finding themselves roaming urban streets in places like Mumbai. The animatronic has been created by John Nolan Studio, the team behind animatronics for Harry Potter, 'Spy in the Wild' and many more. Big Cat Week airs on Nat Geo 'WILD' from 6-12 March with U.K. premiere episodes each night at 8pm.
