These shocking photos show the damage caused by the extreme floods in Valencia three months on from the deadly natural disaster. As if it were a scene from an apocalypse movie, these images show what Valencia looks like today after the Spanish region was hit by extreme flooding in October.

The trail of devastation left behind countless damaged and overturned cars, concrete shattered into pieces, and piles of waste strewn across the land. Photographer Olivier Jarry-Lacombe, who captured these images, said the landscape was so ravaged he felt like he was on a battlefield. SEE OUR COPY FOR DETAILS.

Lampedusa, gateway to Europe for Africa's migrants
October 21, 2019 - Lampedusa, Italia: Unmarked graves of migrants who died while crossing the Mediterranean Sea between North Africa and Lampedusa. This small part of the cemetery in Cala Pisana is dedicated to these dead migrants. Since the early 2000s, Lampedusa, the European territory closest to Libya, has become a prime transit point for irregular migrants from Africa, the Middle East and Asia wanting to enter Europe. In 2004 the Libyan and Italian governments reached a secret agreement that obliged Libya to accept African immigrants deported from Italian territories. This resulted in the mass repatriation of many people from Lampedusa to Libya between 2004 and 2005. From January to April 2015, about 1600 migrants died on the route from Libya to Lampedusa, making it the deadliest migrant route in the world. (Mehdi Chebil/Polaris) (FOTO:DUKAS/POLARIS)
