    December 22, 2025 - Russia: A car bomb killed a Russian general on Monday, the third such killing of a senior military officer in just over a year. Investigators said Ukraine may be behind the attack. Lt. Gen. Fanil Sarvarov, head of the Operational Training Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces’ General Staff, died from his injuries, said Svetlana Petrenko, the spokesperson for Russia’s Investigative Committee, the nation’s top criminal investigation agency. He was 56. “Investigators are pursuing numerous lines of inquiry regarding the murder. One of these is that the crime was orchestrated by Ukrainian intelligence services. The images are posted with the message: "We are asking for the public's help identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. 1-800-CALL-FBI". A rifle recovered in the hunt of Kirk's assassin contained ammo engraved with “transgender and anti-fascist ideology.” The weapon — an imported .30-06-caliber Mauser bolt-action rifle — was discovered wrapped in a towel by investigators in a wooded area following the killing of Kirk. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has released additional images of a “person of interest” in the shooting death of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk who was shot once while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University today. The male suspect dressed head to toe in dark clothing was seen running on a roof overlooking the event venue, jumping to the ground and running away. The images are posted with the message: "We are asking for the public's help identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. 1-800-CALL-FBI". A rifle recovered in the hunt of Kirk's assassin contained ammo engraved with “transgender and anti-fascist ideology.” The weapon — an imported .30-06-caliber Mauser bolt-action rifle — was discovered wrapped in a towel by investigators in a wooded area following the killing of Kirk.
