Israel-Hamas War 2025: Israeli Army In The West Bank
May 29, 2025, Israel: During the Swords of Iron War the Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) Directorate of Defense Research & Development (DDR&D), the Israeli Air Force (IAF), and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems executed an accelerated development program to deploy revolutionary interception systems. As a result of this initiative, soldiers from the IAF Aerial Defense Array operated high power laser system prototypes in the field, successfully intercepting scores of enemy threats. Throughout the current war, the IAF, including its Aerial Defense Array soldiers, studied and deployed the laser systems in the field, achieving outstanding interception rates that saved civilian lives and protected national assets. A cheap alternative to military helicopters for battlefield deployment that looks like a shipping container, is being developed.

Lithuanian startup Airvolve plans to have the vertical take-off and landing aircraft ready for pre-orders by the end of this year.

The heavy-lift aerial vehicle is projected to be 10 times cheaper to operate than a conventional helicopter.

Its unique horizontal-axis propulsion system is claimed to enable it to carry a large-volume payload up to 200 kg with a 100 km radius.

The vehicle is designed for diverse applications, including automated cargo delivery, casualty evacuation, and search and rescue.

The company is still secretive about the rotor-based propulsion system which is said to be based on well proven technology.

It is said to draw on aerodynamic principles that are nearly a century old now made viable by advances in materials.

The founding team includes former employees of US space agency NASA and the engineering wing of low-cost airline Ryanair.

A way to beam power across a battlefield to simplify logistics is to be developed for the US army.
Wireless power would reduce the need for troops to carry additional fuel and batteries, increasing their operation time, and safeguarding their locations.
The average US soldier today carries up to 164 kg much it in batteries to run their equipment.
It also does away with the need for concentrated fuel depots for tanks and other combat and transport vehicles that could be vulnerable.
The technology could even keep military robots powered including those used for perimeter surveillance.
US defence company Raytheon has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Army to work on this directed energy technology.
With the technology, beams of high-energy microwaves are transmitted from a secure generator to forward positions where it's converted back into electricity.
However, these chargers work only at extremely short range.
Raytheon is working on a variant that can operate at extremely long range.
