A catamaran-like unmanned warship has been developed for the US navy.
The BlackSea MASC has bolt-on accessories for different missions including anti-submarine and surface to surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance gathering, logistics and infrastructure monitoring, combat strikes and laying or destroying mines.
It has an 83 m² deck area that can handle standard shipping containers weighing up to 30 tonnes.
The US defence company BlackSea Technologies says it is easy to modify the MASC for specific missions simply by bolting a suitable container or module to the deck and hooking it up to a below deck power generator.
It has twin hulls to help with operating in all weather conditions and for speed.
It has a top speed of 25 knots / 46 km/h and long range speed of 10 knots /18.5 km/h and an operational range of 3,000 nautical miles/ 5,556 km with a 10,000-nautical-mile / 18,520-km extended self-deployment range.

Video Shows Explosion On Russian Ship In Berdyansk
This footage, posted online by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Thursday (24March2022) claims to show an explosion and fire on the large Russian paratrooper ship "Orsk" of the Black Sea Fleet, in the captured port city of Berdyansk in Southern Ukraine.
Video of the ship unloading an armoured personnel carrier was previously broadcast by Zvezda, a TV station run by the Russian government.
Berdyansk was captured on 27 February 2022. The ports of Mariupol, Skadovsk and Kherson have all been seized by the Russians, according to reports.

There was double delight for destroyers Defender and Diamond as the warships received a warm welcome from families after a landmark deployment.
The two ships sailed into Portsmouth Naval Base 60 minutes apart ¨ñ and a few hours ahead of the nationís flagship, aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth, which they accompanied for most of the past seven months.
The duo left the city in May, part of a nine-ship force ñ seven of them British ñ with the flagship at the centre on its maiden deployment to the Pacific Rim and back.
Both Type 45 warships formed part of the defensive ring of ships formed around the carrier, fulfilling their principal role, watching out for aerial threats.
But there were also opportunities at times to break away from the core task group and operate independently or with allies, such as Defenderís extremely high-profile patrol of the Black Sea in June.

The 21st of October 2021 marks 50 years since HMS Belfast opened to the public for the first time ñ after its final commission the ship was initially earmarked for the scrap heap but was thankfully saved by the ship's former Captain, Rear Admiral Sir Morgan Morgan-Giles MP, who formed the HMS Belfast Trust which in turn launched ëOperation Seahorse' and successfully convinced the British government to turn Belfast over to the Trust who made the necessary arrangements to bring it to London.
The son and daughter of Captain Morgan-Giles visit the ship to donate the pennant which flew when their father was Captain of the ship during its final commission.
