PETA models, Edita Stasiuleviciute (Right) from Lithuania and Katie Doherty (Left) from Co.Kerry, covered by an ostrich "corpse" and carrying an handbag-shaped signs during PETA protest against the use of exotic skins in fashion accessories, walk on Grafton Street outside Brown Thomas store.
The action comes on the heels of PETA's release of the first-ever exposé of the highly secretive industrial ostrich-slaughter industry, where young ostriches are kept in barren dirt feedlots until they are trucked to abattoirs. There, the 1-year-old ostriches are turned upside down in a stunner, are ejected to have their throats slit, and have their feathers plucked out, creating the bumpy-textured or "goose bump" skin used in Birkin and Prada bags and other "luxury" goods.

Russian troops tortured Oleksii Sivak for weeks, applying electric shocks to his genitals in a freezing basement in his home city of Kherson in punishment for resisting their rule.
When Ukrainian troops freed the city in the autumn of 2022, Sivak was presented with a long list of medical specialists who could help his recovery and asked to tick the ones he needed.
Almost every part of the body and mind was covered, but there were no urologists, doctors who treat male urinary and reproductive organs.

'Carved on bodies and souls': Ukrainian men face 'systemic' sexual torture in Russian detention centres
Ukraine only beginning to grapple with impact of widespread but unspoken abuse.
Russian troops tortured Oleksii Sivak for weeks, applying electric shocks to his genitals in a freezing basement in his home city of Kherson in punishment for resisting their rule.
When Ukrainian troops freed the city in the autumn of 2022, Sivak was presented with a long list of medical specialists who could help his recovery and asked to tick the ones he needed.
Almost every part of the body and mind was covered, but there were no urologists, doctors who treat male urinary and reproductive organs.
