Picture MUST credit: Heritage Auctions Original artwork for a Spider-Man comic book has sold for a world record auction. Price of $1.02 million USD / €994.000 Euros. The sought after 1979 original drawings marked the first appearance of Spider-Man adversary Felicia Harding known as Black Cat, It was an important milestone in the web slinging hero’s history. The cover, by Marvel artist Al Milgrom, appeared in Amazing Spider-Man comic number 194. US sale room Heritage Auctions said it offered a rare opportunity to appreciate the illustration like never before -- including a rarely seen glimpse at Milgrom's impressive and stunning detail work. The artwork for sale came before colouring for publication. A Heritage spokesperson said: “During the original colouring process, much of the cover was darkened to create the illusion of Felicia blending into the shadows, which obscured many of the highlights and details of her costume and figure. “Here, on the original art, these previously hidden elements shine, adding even greater allure to Marvel's premier Feline Fatale. “This piece captures the magic of Black Cat's first appearance and serves as a testament to her enduring legacy in the Marvel Universe.” Picture supplied by JLPPA
