DOG PLAYS NANNY TO ORPHANED GOAT

A kind-hearted Alsatian has stepped in to play surrogate mum to an orphaned baby goat.

The newborn kid was taken in by the owners of Five Sisters Zoo in West Lothian after its mother Snowy died while giving birth.

Brian and Shirley Curran hoped to hand rear the little goat themselves until he was old enough to re-join the other animals at the community wildlife centre.

However, they were left astonished after their five-year-old Alsatian Bonnie stepped in to offer a helping hand with kid-care duties.

The motherly mutt now takes charge of cleaning and protecting the little goat, and refuses to leave its side even for walks.

According to the Curran's they are amazed at their dog's devotion, and Brian, who has raised goats for years, says he has never seen anything like it before.
