Cambodia is combating its landmine problem - with rats.

After more than two decades of civil war, the kingdom is one of the most landmine-affected countries in the world.

Now they hope to sniff away their past thanks to rodents that are able to detect the buried threats.

Photojournalist Claudio Montesano Casillas visited the affected area this month (April) to capture the so-called Hero Rats in action.

Neck of the Moon design by El Hadi Jazairy. Neck of the Moon cleans up the orbital environment by compacting space debris into planet Laika, the Earth?s new second moon.
International future architecture competition - 04 Mar 2016

An architecture competition that hopes to build lives for humans in space and in the sea has been launched.

The International Future Architecture competition asks entrants to imagine a life where water and space would be populated.

Organisers The Jacques Rougerie Foundation say that the Earth's growing population and a potential sea level rise creates the need for new ideas about where humans can live.

Highlights of previous entries include Neck of the Moon, by El Hadi Jazairy, which sees space debris in the orbital environment compacting into a new 'second moon' called Laika.

Another lunar idea was Moon Origin Point by Miloje Krunic; an autonomous habitat for up to 20 million people designed to utilse the Moon's "abundant mineral resources".

    You can't sea me!

A sea otter dozes happily - disguised as a lump of seaweed.

Wildlife photographer Michael Yang had spent the day haplessly searching for otters in Monterey, California, before his wife pointed out a suspicious floating pile of kelp.

His amazing pictures show the marine mammal seemingly hiding from the world in order to get some peaceful sleep.

And, hilariously, the otter unwrapped itself for a good shake of its fur before rewrapping itself in kelp and once again nodding off.

Michael says: "The sea otter was well camouflaged. Despite being right next to a walk path, most people walked right by without even noticing the dozing otter. Sea otters sometimes wrap themselves up in kelp so they won't float off while they are sleeping. This sea otter took it one step further and covered its face with the kelp like an eye mask."

Annual deep clean at the London Aquarium, Britain - 09 Jan 2014
It was time for the annual deep clean at the London Aquarium today and a team of aquarists (specialist divers) kicked off 2014 with a full clean of all 63 displays. However, rather than lend a helping hand, more often than not the attraction's inquisitive inhabitants ended up getting in the way. Clearly not understanding the purpose of the event, Tubby the Gentoo Penguin was more interested in getting himself - rather than his enclosure - hosed down. Meanwhile, other aquarists found themselves interrupted by a host of sea creatures - from photo bombing rays to light fingered lobsters - as they tried to go about their work
