While in the churchyard of St Mary Magdalene, Taunton to watch the breeding Peregrine Falcons, I noticed this Herring Gull carrying a plastic covered Baguette. In no time it had managed to open it up and eat the some of the contents. I was able to retrieve the last bit of Baguette and remove the plastic before leaving the remains of the Baguette for the Gull.

Continuous gale force winds and rough seas are having an effect on Britain's favourite sea bird - The Puffin. This puffin was blown underneath a caravan at Brean in Somerset. The RSPCA have 4 puffins in their rescue centre at West Hatch near Taunton in Somerset all suffering from being 'Wind Blown.' Not being strong enough to cope with 80mph winds and driving rain. The Puffins will stay with the RSPCA until they are stronger and the bad weather subsides

Seabirds getting into trouble because of the stormy weather, Somerset, Britain - 12 Feb 2014
Continuous gale force winds and rough seas are having an effect on Britain's sea birds. Dormant oil slicks on the bottom of the ocean from previous spills are being whipped up stormy weather and high winds are also making it difficult to fly. The RSPCA rescue centre at West Hatch near Taunton in Somerset is treating Razor Bills, Fulmar, and Guillimots for oil contamination. All the birds will stay with the RSPCA to be cleaned up and will be released back into the wild when they are stronger and the bad weather subsides. Meanwhile, the centre is also caring for 'wind blown' puffins who have found themselves unable to cope with 80mph winds and driving rain. They will also be released once the weather improves.

Pete the puffin, who was rescued after being found washed-up on a beach, Taunton, Somerset - 30 Aug 2011
Mandatory Credit: Photo by Richard Austin / Rex Features ( 1431606e )
Puffin Pete Is All Washed-Up
Poor Pete the puffin may only be a youngster but he's already found himself all washed up.
The tiny little puffin is making himself at home at an animal shelter in Taunton, Somerset after being discovered stranded on a beach in Weymouth.
It is thought that the youngster got separated from his parents before ending up washed-up and alone on the sand.
However, luckily for Pete he was spotted and has been taken in by the RSPCA.
Staff are now feeding the little puffin on a diet of sprats and he is already starting to fatten up nicely.
And though he has yet to develop the distinctive beak of his species, Pete is already happily practicing perfect puffin behaviour.
In his pond at the centre the young bird has been practicing 'flying' beneath the surface, which is how puffins catch their food in the wild.
Puffins keep their feathers waterproof by smearing them with oil produced from a special gland near their tail.
Following his ordeal Pete's wings became waterlogged and he will not be released back into the wild until he has managed to coat them sufficiently again.

"You can also make an impression when attending a festival - take out the decking and there's plenty of room to sleep in the ba...
