Queen of the Waves; Britain's silver surfer: Gwyn Haslock, who at 71 still surfs every day. Gwyn was Britain's first competitive female surfing champion and has been surfing since she learned from her father in the early 1960s. Here she is in Newquay at dawn checking the swell and monitoring for rips. This is the Fistral beach that a father and daughter were tragically drowned at only a few days ago. Gwyn prefers to surf very early to avoid the crowds in the summer months.
