It's enough to melt your wallet. Londoners can now buy the nation’s “most expensive ice-cream” for a cool £99 a cone. The Billionaire’s Soft Serve, on sale at Selfridges, comes complete with a gold-leaf coated flake and spoon. Each wafer cone, dipped in dark chocolate and coated in golden pearls, contains a dollop as big as your head and weighs in at 350g, about the same as an entire tub of shop-bought ice cream. Two hands are needed to hold it. Experts from ice cream brand Snowflake began making the extravagant concoctions to order this week at the department store in Oxford Street. They intersperse gelato with caramelised pecans and Belgian white chocolate truffles, and place a raspberry sorbet macaroon, fruit-filled pipettes and edible "diamonds" on top. Pictured : Maria Giulianelli serving the ice cream.

World's Oldest Barmaid Refuses To Call Time Yet
A great-great grandmother who is the oldest barmaid in the world will soon celebrate her 100th birthday - but has no plans to retire.

Dolly Saville still works three days a week at The Red Lion Hotel in Wendover, Bucks, where she has been pulling pints for an incredible 74 years since 1940.

The pensioner started working at the bar when she was just 26 and King George VI was on the throne, Winston Churchill was Prime Minister and Britain was in the grip of World War Two.

Over the last seven decades she has served scores of famous faces, including actor Pierce Brosnan, former Prime Minister Ted Heath, footballer Stanley Matthews, wartime singer Vera Lynn, ballet dancer Margot Fonteyn and actress Elizabeth Taylor.

Until six years ago when she was 94 she was still working at least six hours a day, six days a week and has only ever had two weeks sick leave.

She has now reduced her work to three shifts a week, but still spends hours on her feet clearing tables, polishing glasses and serving customers.

The pensioner, who has three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, has pulled and poured a staggering two million pints in the bar, which has been named Dolly's in her honour.

"I love my work and I love the people, it keeps me going and it's better than sitting around," said Dolly, whose two children are long retired.

"I never thought I would be here this long, but I've loved every minute of it. My family keeps asking if I want to stop, but I have no plans to retire.

"My boss is lovely and if he asked me to work an extra shift I would say yes as he has been so kind to me."

Dolly was born in Eton, Berkshire, and moved to Wendover at the age of three. She left school at 14 and went into service as a house maid.

Keen Swimmer Still Making A Splash At 99
Britain's oldest swimmer John Harrison is still making a splash aged 99 - by breaking six world records.

Energetic pensioner John blows his opponents out of the water and is the second oldest competitive swimmer in the world behind Jaring Timmerman of Canada, 105.

Alongside the six world records, John, who is 100 in July, also has a staggering 15 European and 46 British records on his illustrious list of achievements.

The former Royal Navy Chief Petty Officer from 1937-45 is still as fit as a fiddle and trains once a week at his local swimming club.

John, of Godalming, Surrey, said: "When I first started I was not a very good swimmer but I am like a penguin. Once I am in the water I am happy.

"I like the training. I normally train once a week in the pool but 'dry train' every day for half an hour with strength ropes.

"It is relaxing, a good sport and there is a bit of a challenge about it. I enjoy it as there is good company. People worry about how I should get in the water but I just dive straight in.

"I am quite pleased with myself in a way, not proud though as someone had to do it, so why shouldn't it be me?"

Retired engineer John, who still drives to the pool, started racing in 1992, aged 77, when his late wife Doris asked him to give up sub aqua diving.

The grandad-of-two competes for the Godalming and Royal Navy masters swimming clubs and will carry on until the neck injury he received after getting blown up by a mine on HMS Belfast in 1939 becomes too painful.

John said: "I never thought about giving up. When my body tells me to stop I will. The doctors said I should maybe think about stopping because of my bad neck.

"I invalided out the Navy in 1945. I got blown up on HMS Belfast which didn't do my spine any good at all.

The World's First Amphibious Ice Cream Van
The world's first amphibious ice cream van has set sail.

'HMS Flake 99' ventured onto the River Thames in London ahead of a UK tour.

The vessel reaches a top speed of five knots and chimes Rod Stewart's classic 'We Are Sailing' as it ploughs through the water.

She's captained by ice cream mad David Mounfield, a stand-up comedian from Brighton, who was chosen after winning an online competition.

The quirky watercraft was specially commissioned by Fredericks, makers of Cadbury's ice cream to mark National Ice Cream Week (30th May - 5th June).

After a nationwide tour of Britain's beaches, there are plans to take the vehicle across the English Channel and on to the canals of Venice next year.

Early morning bathers and boating enthusiasts got a sneak preview of the van in Blackpool on Monday (30 May) when the customised craft completed a successful, secret maiden voyage.

Organisers say the van was created in response to a growing number of British councils ban ice cream vans from housing estates, parks and outside schools because of concerns about noise pollution. Others have created ice cream selling "exclusion zones" in town centres, hiked the cost of a van operator's licence and limited how long vans can sound their chimes.

Jenny Bostock, Consumer Marketing Manager for Fredericks in Skelmersdale, Lancashire comments: " If you can't make it to your local beach to see our van, you can always pick up a pack of four from your local supermarket. We are now considering taking the remarkable vehicle across the Channel and onto the canals of Venice to champion Britain's beaches and give our continental cousins the ultimate ta...
