A last minute Halloween fancy-dress dash resulted in a fully-functional Nikon camera costume.

The unique costume was made by professional photographer Tyler Card who had one week to make a Halloween costume before the first fancy-dress party.

The 26-year-old came up with the idea while at work and set about making the design when he got home.

Michigan-based Tyler said: "I didn't plan on the costume being so functional and detailed but as I started to build it the ideas kept coming.

"I realised it wouldn't be very difficult to make a functional flash and shutter release button, since I already had all the equipment I needed.

"I had an old Dell Laptop that I haven't used in years which still works. With the laptop I could connect my camera via USB and load the pictures to a folder as I took them, which could then scroll as a Slideshow in full-screen on the LCD display."

Tyler mounted a wireless remote receiver in the costume body beneath the shutter release button, which activated the shutter by either using the remote control, or pressing the button on the costume.

The body of the costume is made out of a cardboard box spray-painted black; the lens is a paint bucket and the lid from the bucket is the lens cap. The costume took a total of 30 hours to make and Tyler confessed he was still working on it minutes before the party started.

"The costume was a big hit at the party. The only down side was that everyone crowded behind me to see the photographs, so there was times when there was no-one to talk to!" explained Tyler.
