Taking life slowly in Cuba, Cuba - 29 Dec 2015
FULL COPY: http://www.rexfeatures.com/nanolink/rxvm
Despite the fast changes that are happening in Cuba, the population are still taking life very slowly.
Photographer Valerio Berdini has captured a series of images that show the slow, Cuban way of life.
Valerio said: "The headlines speak clear - change is imminent; expectations are high. What the analysis don't seem to touch on are the Cubans. There have been three generations of people that grew up and have been educated under Fidel Castro's socialism."
He added: "In Cuba time passes at a different pace, days do not have the rhythm of a western society. Workers are not taught the concepts of services, efficiency or excellence. Competition, the driving force of a capitalist society, is unknown in an economy where, for almost 60 years, people are used to earning their (meagre) salary regardless their productivity. There are few objectives and fewer rewards, the little money are spent in tiny undersupplied shops. People aren't seduced by adverts."

12-year-old boy carrying replica gun shot dead by police, Cleveland, Ohio, America - 24 Nov 2014
New CCTV footage of Tamir Rice, aged 12, who was shot dead by police in Cleveland, Ohio after carrying what turned out to be a replica gun in a playground. Police say an officer fired two shots at the boy after he failed to obey an order to raise his hands. He died in hospital the next morning. A caller reported the child to police for scaring people with a gun but said that he did not know if it was real. CCTV shows Tamir pointing the toy gun at a passer-by, adopting a gun-pointing stance and walking around the area. A separate audio recording released by police appears to confirm that officers were not told the gun was fake. The footage shows a police patrol car pull up in front of Tamir. Moments later one of the officers emerges from the car and the boy can be seen to double up and fall the ground as he is shot. Chief officer Edward Tomba said that the officers ordered the boy to show his hands three times as the car pulled up alongside. He was then shot and fatally wounded.

Top Guns: The Best U.S. Air Force Pictures of 2013
These stunning images show a year in the life of the largest air force in the world.
The United States Air Force has operations all over the world and enlisted photographers are there to capture the action.
The service's specialist Airman magazine has curated the most impactful imagery from 2013 for a special issue entitled 'Year in Visuals'.
As would be expected, the gallery features awesome images of aircraft, but there are also personal military stories including a striking image of Capt. Candice Adams Ismirle preparing for cancer radiation treatment, while Staff Sgt. Ron Blodgett is shown in tears as he embraces his son after returning from a deployment in Southwest Asia.
Managing editor Tech. Sgt. Chris Powell explains: "We pride ourselves on publishing the powerful imagery and videos Air Force photographers and broadcasters produce every day. These professionals travel the world, sometimes putting themselves in harm's way, to bring you the visual story from an Airman's perspective.
"Our goal is to make you feel as close to the story as possible, being right there with Airmen providing security in Afghanistan, a team of Airmen hiking the highest mountains on Earth or showcasing the Air Force's many aircraft conducting operations throughout the world."

Soviet era miners' cable car or aerial tramway transportation system in Chiatura, Georgia - Jul 2013
Mandatory Credit: Photo by REX/Amos Chapple (2848497i)
The Soviet Era Cable Cars Not For The Fainthearted
In the steep valley town of Chiatura the public transport system is an engineering spectacle that, today more than ever, is not for the fainthearted.
In the early 20th century, after the seizure of Georgia by the Soviet Union, authorities were intent on building a functioning workers' town to ramp up extraction of Chiatura's vast manganese deposits.
As Soviet planners got to work on the requisite sanitarium and cultural centres, the issue of public transport within the gorge proved less straightforward.
Eventually, in an effort to conquer the town's extreme geography, a network of cable cars or aerial tramways were built to almost every corner of the mining town.
Traditionally, this transported miners from their homes at the bottom of the gorge to the mines that dotted the mountains, and was also used to transport the manganese from mine to factory.
In its heyday Chiatura was responisble for producing 60% of the world's manganese.
Today, while some of the cars have rusted away, seventeen - including the USSR's first passenger tramway- remain in service.
Most tramways in Chiatura use a 'jig back' system where two cabins are connected to the same haulage rope.
An electric motor pulls one cabin down, using that cabin's weight to help pull the other cabin up.
And, while mining isn't quite as prevalent as it once was, the tramway remains a vital resource for locals and the mines still in operation.

Rude Awakening: Penguin Mistakes Seal For Boulder
WATCH HILARIOUS CLIP: http://bit.ly/gMn59M
What a rude awakening - a seal was startled out of slumber when a penguin mistook it for a ROCK.
The flightless bird was happily leaping from boulder to boulder when it accidentally jumped onto the snoozing seal.
The shocked creature reacted by stretching its back and, with mouth wide open, tried to dislodge the cheeky visitor.
Seemingly sensing something was not quite right, the penguin leapt off and made good his escape - leaving the seal giving it a look that would melt an iceberg.
Hilariously, another penguin arrives and seems about to do the same thing to the hapless seal.
The scene was captured by an anonymous tourist who posted the clip - thought to have been shot in Antarctica - online.
The British cameraman is heard saying "our friend's found a way down" before exclaiming a shocked "oh!" when the penguin makes its first leap.
His female colleague says "did you get it? Did you get it?" before another male comments: "he didn't like it, did he, the seal?".
