After sheepdogs proved useless she desperately needed some other method to keep her flock safe, and since investing in the exotic animals, who fend off predators by spitting, she hasn't lost any sheep. Carol said: 'Getting in llamas was the best thing I've ever done. The sheepdogs kept getting injured and they didn't bond with my sheep at all. WINEHOUSE FORCED TO COVER UP EXPLICIT TATTOO FOR GRAMMYS

Apparently, the organisers of this year's Grammy Awards weren't just concerned about singer Amy Winehouse's drug use, but her risqué tattoos too.

The Back to Black singer had to get creative with a black eyeliner pencil before her performance via satellite in order cover up a tattoo featuring a naked woman.

So as not to offend any of America's more 'puritanical viewers', Amy drew a black bikini top on a tattoo of a buxom topless woman that she has on her left arm.

Something she was able to wash straight off following her performance.

Winehouse, 24, scooped five awards at the event including Best New Artist and Song of the Year.

She has recently been receiving treatment for substance abuse after being caught on camera apparently using crack cocaine.

However, with the singer's recent emergence from rehab as a seemingly happier and healthier person, it would seem that the soul sensation is cleaning up her act in more ways than one.

Almost every car in Afghanistan is a Toyota, because there are plenty of spare parts for them in circulation. A second-hand Mercedes is cheaper than a second-hand Toyota, but there are hardly any spare parts for them in Afghanistan, so they can't be repaired. Cars are all imported - often on top of buses.

OUT OF THE DUST - LIFE IN AFGHANISTAN

A powerful collection of images of everyday life in Afghanistan will be displayed for the first time in the UK in a new exhibition this summer.

'Out of the Dust - Life in Afghanistan' features images by Dutch photographer Hans Stakelbeek. The exhibition runs from 30 July-31 August 2008 at PM Gallery in west London.

In 2007 Hans Stakelbeek was commissioned by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs to document the reconstruction of Afghanistan during the efforts to restore peace and stability to the country.

Stakelbeek made four trips last year, shooting in Kabul and Uruzgan, as well as other remote areas.

As the project developed, he also became interested in capturing the stories of the people he came to know, as well as the reconstruction efforts required by his official posting.

'Out of the Dust' presents a set of images that pays tribute to the determination of the Afghan people to survive and live as normally as possible through the upheaval - building homes, going to school and working and playing in testing and frightening times.

The collection gives a rare view of daily life in Afghanistan without a military slant and each photograph comes complete with Stakel...

Bina Devi and her grand daughter Aaratia Kumari from a village in Haripur said "we lost everything in the flood, we don't have andthing apart from these clothes because we had no time to take any belongings as the flood water came so fast, we escaped on a bamboo bridge and paddled to here in Koshi. The army gave us emergency biscuits and water but we were not given any food for four days"
Flooding in Sunsari, Nepal - 04 Sep 2008
Around 60,000 villagers in Nepal have been displaced due to flooding caused by the Kosi river breaching its defences three weeks ago and changing its course. The conditions have also affected nearly five million people in neighbouring India. Both governments now face the task of feeding and housing the many refugees who are living in relief camps. It is thought that some people will be forced to stay in these camps for up to six months. Already disease is becoming a problem and officials have said that at least 14 people living in Nepalese aid camps have already died after becoming ill. Both India and Nepal accuse each other of being to blame for the failure of the flood walls that should have prevented the disaster.

THE FAMILY WHO CAN'T SEE CHRISTMAS

Passers-by stop each Christmas to admire the riot of festive lights that smother the Reddington family's house and garden.

More colour filled displays sparkle from the living room window.

Even their dog Orla is celebrating with her own pair of reindeer ears.

But throughout the year Orla plays a vital role as the family's guide dog - because all of the Reddington's, bar one, are registered blind.

However, nothing stops them pulling out all the stops at Christmas.

Advent calendars line the mantle piece and the hall is awash with tinsel.

It is only daughter Katie, 12, who is able to see the decorations but she happily describes how pretty they look to her mum Bernie, 40, dad Marcus, 48, brother Chris, 15, and sister Abbie-Rose, 11.

Bernie says: "I suppose people will wonder why we go to so much trouble, but Christmas is Christmas and we get just as much pleasure putting decorations up as any sighted person would.

"Just because we're blind doesn't mean we have to be bah humbug about Christmas.

"In fact you could accuse us of going the other way, we love it. Plus Katie loves it and through her eyes we all get to enjoy it.

"We go a bit mad but it wouldn't be the same if we didn't. The neighbours do worry though when they see me balancing on a ladder in the frost to put the lights up outside.

"WE might not be able to see t...
