Sports and leisurewear maker Nike is launching a new type of shoe designed to help athletes get into the right mindset pre- and post-competition.
There are two models , the Mind 001 and Mind 002.
They are described by the US giant as “neuroscience-based footwear” and the idea is that they boost focus by activating sensory receptors in the feet.
To do this the shoes feature 22 foam nodes on the soles of each one.
The nodes are bonded to a flexible, water-resistant material that allows them to act as pistons and gimbals as athletes move to give the feeling and texture of the ground directly beneath.
According to Nike, this interaction heightens sensory awareness, clearing away distractions and enhancing concentration.
They mark the debut of what is known as the Nike Mind platform.
This is the result of more than ten years of scientific, engineering and manufacturing technology research.
The Mind 001 mule offers easy-on, easy-off convenience and comfort, while the Mind 002 sneaker anchors the foot to the footbed for increased sensation and support.
Both the shoes will be available from January 2026 at Nike.com and select retail locations.

90210 alum Jennie Garth, 51, puts her issues with arthritis aside as she powers through an intense workout in the San Fernando Valley. The mom-of-three recently revealed that she was diagnosed with osteoarthritis ? the most common form of the joint condition ? five years ago and how it prompted her to hire a personal trainer to help power through the pain and stay as active as possible. ñGoing to a doctor or a specialist and getting that diagnosis is key, because from that knowledge, we can do our work,î Jennie confided to People magazine in March, adding: ñIt spurred me into being more physically active and working with a trainer.î 2018 proved to be a tumultuous year for the actress, as her third husband Dave Abrams filed for divorce after three years of marriage citing irreconcilable differences. The pair separated but got back together ten months later and have remained married to date. For her gym outing on May 24, 2023 Jennie went makeup free and wore black sweats, a gray tank top and Nike Air Max 270 trainers. On her exit from the gym she stopped to hug an admiring fan and pose for selfies. JennieÍs trainer walked her to the car and the pair chatted for a while before she made her way home.
