Horses purification by fire
January 16, 2018 - San Barolome de Pinares, Castilla Leon, Spain: Every year on January 16, eve of Saint Anthony the patron saint of animals, in San Bartolome de Pinares, a small village 62 miles from Madrid, an old tradition called Luminarias is revisited. Horse riders cross bonfires with their horses repeatedly in the streets of the town, for about an hour and a half. Then, neighbors and visitors continue the celebration with food and drinks. The origin of this tradition is unknown, but riders believe the smoke from the fire will purify the animals and protect them for the year. (Tomas Calle / Polaris) (FOTO:DUKAS/POLARIS)

Harvey Weinstein effigy
Edenbridge Bonfire Society Harvey Weinstein Bonfire Night effigy, Kent, UK - 04 Nov 2017
A 36 feet tall effigy of disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein is hoisted back up into position this afternoon and his legs attached in preparation for it to be burned later this evening at the annual Edenbridge Guy Fawkes celebrations in Kent. The effigy was first unveiled on Wednesday in a nearby field before being dismantled and then repositioned today for tonight's celebrations. A number of people turned up early to see the effigy being resurrected this afternoon with the majority of them women, who took turns to take pictures of each other and "selfies" in front of the guy. Weinstein was chosen to go up in flames this year because of "allegations of outrageous and despicable conduct" against him concerning a number of women. Last year Donald Trump was burned.
