Rover Scouts assist in the relief effort to get food to those affected by bushfires at Kinglake, Victoria, on February 13, 2009. The state of Victoria, Australia was devastated by bushfires that killed an estimated 300 people, destroyed over 2000 houses and homes and burnt out hundreds of thousands acres of bush and farmland. Temperatures in the inferno are believed to have been as hot as 1400 degrees Celsius and wind speeds to be in excess of 200kms an hour. Scientists believe the energy release from the fire to have been equivalent to that of 500 nuclear bombs the size of the one that flattened Hiroshima. Survivors tell tales of facing 'a tidal wave of flame', 'a holocaust', of being in the center of 'the perfect fire storm.' (FOTO: DUKAS/WORLDPICTURENEWS)

HEIDI?S mother ERNA was also around and was seen in the shop and also walking hand-in-hand with granddaughter LENI who looks as if she did her own eye make up that day and wore red patent Mary Janes (looks like LENI wants to be like her mom when she grows up). HEIDI seemed very intent with her art and didn?t mind showing off her face without makeup. HEIDI also wore new Tom Ford sunglasses and trend buckled biker boots with her off-the-shoulder shirt. THE CAR WASH CRAZY HOT WAX HOUDINI

A Canadian escape artist has managed to make a clean getaway from his latest stunt.

Dean Gunnarson was sprayed from head to toe with searing hot wax, water and soap as he attempted to escape after being chained to the roof of a vehicle going through a car wash.

In a tribute to his hero, American escape artist Harry Houdini, who died on Halloween in 1926, Gunnarson was chained and handcuffed to the top of the vehicle as it was driven through the car wash.

Gunnarson's goal was to wriggle free before the SUV reached the massive blow dryers at the end of the cycle.

Commenting on the stunt he said: "This may not be as death-defying as some of my other escapes, like being locked in shark cages underwater, but this still has elements of risks for me".

As the vehicle started its journey through the carwash, two huge rotating brushes bore down on his body.

Soap then blasted away at his eyes and water spewed from both the sides of the wash, making unpicking the locks tricky work.

He finally managed to free himself as hot wax sprayed down upon him; taking the final chain from around his neck and kneeling up to give a victory cheer.

Gunnarson has been an escape artist for 20 years and has been featured on television specials in the United States, Japan and other countries.

One of his most notorious stunts saw him tied up in chains and cuffs, dangling 200 metres over a Nevada gorge. Another saw him chained across a busy roller-coaster track in China, working to get free be...

    Beatle Wigs .
Down in Bethnal Green there's a new industry booming. The entire ground floor of a looming factory block is given over six days a week to turning out the neatest line in Beatle wigs you ever did see. It takes an average of twenty minutes to turn out each shaggy wig and this factory is making - and selling them - at at rate of 1500 a week . " The demand is fantastic ", says Mr Butler , the boss. " We can't produce enough ".
The wigs start as felt cut-outs to which brown or black fur is stitched . Then comes a quick run through the sewing machne , a stretch , steam and beating on the block and another 15 shilling wig is on its way to the fans ......

    Bristle Brainstorm
During WWII, government contracts prevented the Los Angeles Brush Company from supplying its customers with its standard product . So just for fun the Company dreamed up a series of crazy brushes , described in pseudo-serious pieces sent to its customer list . The customers loved it so much that they screamed when the company tried discontinuing the practice after the war .
This brush is mounted on free wheeling casters , has bristles which never touch the floor - solves one problem - is guaranteed never to wear out .

    LONDON SCOUTS REFIT FLOATING H.Q.

Boys of the 2nd City of London Sea Scout Troop are having a busy Saturday afternoon aboard the ' England ', their new floating headquarters moored at Brewers Quay in the pool of London.
The boat , 110 foot. long and painted blue and white, is being refitted by the boys during the weekends.
The ' England ' has had a chequered career: it was formerly a river pleasure steamer and at one time was the property of Lady Astor; it has also in the past been used as a Gosport ferry steamer, propelled by paddles.
The ' England ' has plenty of sleeping accommodation, and when the refit has been completed sea scouts will be able to spend long weekends aboard to have their training.

PICTURE SHOWS:- Sea scouts busy swabbing decks and scraping small boats aboard ' England '.
