Entrants for the 2013 Shed of the Year competition are now being accepted. But forget your common garden shed, those entered in this competition are on a whole new level. They've been converted into pubs, diners, Chinese pagodas, boats and even clad in CDs by their fanatical owners. The contest, which is sponsored by garden woodcare brand Cuprinol, has already attracted more than 2,000 entries this year. Researchers from Cuprinol found that the typical owner spends over a year of their life in their shed. Almost 50 per cent of the 1,000 owners surveyed say they would be lost without their sheds, with 12 per cent preferring time there to being with their family. Nominations for the competition close on May 3rd, while the winners will be announced in the first week of July.

Stunning Cross Towers Building For Seoul
A stunning skyscraper featuring crossed towers has been designed for Seoul.
Called the Cross #hash Towers, the building has been shaped in a unique hashtag shape in order to meet the height requirements of the 21,000 m2 site on the Han riverfront.
Danish architects BIG have extended the building mass by incorporating an upper and lower horizontal bar, which bridge the two towers at 140m and 70 m height.
The two towers, 214m and 204m tall, are additionally connected through the arrival bar at the ground level and a courtyard below ground.
The development will offer over 600 high-end residences and amenities, including a library, gallery space and a kindergarten.
Both the upper and lower bridge introduce rooftop sky gardens accessible to residents, allowing for outdoor activities, while a courtyard at the heart of the development is an integral part of the overall architectural design
BIG was selected to submit a design proposal for Yongsan International Business to "contribute to the developing skyline of Seoul and become a recognisable marker of the new cultural and commercial centre of the city".
Thomas Christoffersen, BIG's Partner in Charge explains: "The typical tower inherently removes life from the city it occupies. Circulation is linear and social interactions occur only in lobbies or awkward elevator rides. We propose a building that triples the amount of ground floor - triples the amount of social interaction and reintroduces the idea of neighbourhood within the tower complex."

Stunning Cross Towers Building For Seoul
A stunning skyscraper featuring crossed towers has been designed for Seoul.
Called the Cross #hash Towers, the building has been shaped in a unique hashtag shape in order to meet the height requirements of the 21,000 m2 site on the Han riverfront.
Danish architects BIG have extended the building mass by incorporating an upper and lower horizontal bar, which bridge the two towers at 140m and 70 m height.
The two towers, 214m and 204m tall, are additionally connected through the arrival bar at the ground level and a courtyard below ground.
The development will offer over 600 high-end residences and amenities, including a library, gallery space and a kindergarten.
Both the upper and lower bridge introduce rooftop sky gardens accessible to residents, allowing for outdoor activities, while a courtyard at the heart of the development is an integral part of the overall architectural design
BIG was selected to submit a design proposal for Yongsan International Business to "contribute to the developing skyline of Seoul and become a recognisable marker of the new cultural and commercial centre of the city".
