'Alligator Whisperer' Jeanette Rivera, Everglades Alligator Farm, Florida, USA - 2009
THE GATOR GIRL OF THE EVERGLADES

She's lithe and beautiful and her boyfriends are ugly and deadly.

As Jeanette Rivera serves up dinner the most powerful jaws in the animal kingdom are wide-open and waiting for her to fall from her perch.

One slip by this 'Alligator Whisperer' and she will become a tasty morsel as 2,000 pounds of pressure clamps around her slender frame.

Flip-flops don't seem to be the best choice of footwear for this potentially lethal dinner date with 200 alligators but it's Florida and the temperature is 90F.

"I feel comfortable seeing my boys dressed like this," says Jeanette, 24, who is dressed in tight-shorts and a figure-hugging vest. "I know they have up to 10 girlfriends each in the mating season and wouldn't miss me at dinner time in the future if I got gobbled up, but I feel safe."

Jeanette, 5ft 2ins and weighing 100lb, doesn't appear that safe in this crowd, which includes 'Long Jaw' who is 12ft long and weighs in at over 700lbs.

Friends in the Everglades call her 'The Alligator Whisperer' because Jeanette has a way of keeping these killing machines very calm - even at meal times.

She teases her boys by dangling fish above their pre-historic heads, causing a chorus of jaw-snapping with such force that it sounds like repeated rifle shots.

"I'm scared to death of frogs," she calls out from her five-foot high platform above the sea of voracious beasts. "I'd rather be in here than be faced with a bunch of frogs in a little pond.

"I love alligators. They are amazing creatures - there's nothing else like them in the world.

"They've got dreamy eyes and platted backs and they are one of our few connections to the dinosaurs."

Then, she throws a fish into the pond and...
