Cambridge University proctors keeping a watch on students celebrating the end of exams
Cambridge University students celebrate the end of exams, UK - 08 Jun 2016
Students at prestigious Cambridge University showered each other with glitter and champagne as they celebrated the end of their exams today and made the most of the good weather by partying outside. Excited undergraduates caused chaos in the city centre as they sprayed sparkling wine and threw glitter and flour over their friends as they left their exams. They spilled out onto the city streets as the ecstatic students began their end-of-term exam party and made the most of the hot temperatures. The students then continued to party around the town and by the river despite the fact the over-the-top celebrations were banned four years ago in a bid to retain an air of calm for those still studying. University bosses clamped down and introduced a rule asking students to leave quietly and forbidding the blocking of pavements and roads and causing damage.

Vincent the cat has been test-driving his new legs, which have been given to him by Iowa State Unviersity, America.

After being born with only two front legs, Vincent, aged 3, has lived a limited life.

He was adopted by owner Cindy Jones after she found him at an animal shelter when he was a kitten.

Thanks to new technology and design developments, Vincet now has a pair of alloy-titanium legs, that allow him to run and walk, like a normal cat.

The titanium-alloy legs are top-of-the-range, and were attached by vet Dr Mary Sarah Berg, who works in the Iowa State University Lloyd Veterinary Medical Centre.

In the photos, Vincent can be seen enjoying himself and strolling around the exam room.

Haunting Image Gets Photography Contest Seal Of Approval
A photographer's haunting shot of a seal floating amongst a kelp forest has been selected as the winning image in a global competition.

Named best overall phot, the shot was taken by American Kyle McBurnie and shows the harbor seal peering through a kelp forest near San Diego in America.

Meanwhle, a British photographer's stunning shot of a spiky lionfish swimming after a shoal of fish was also one of the winning photographs from the University of Miami's annual Underwater Photography contest.

From small shrimps to huge hammerheads, the competition held by the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science attracted more than 700 entries from across the world.

The remarkable pictures reveal a hidden world of colourful creatures of all shapes and sizes living deep beneath our oceans.

"I took the photo when I was diving on a big wreck of a Second World War ship in the Red Sea in Egypt," said Alex, who has been taking underwater pictures for five years.

"I was about 20 metres down under the sea and took lots of shots but this was the one that came out the best.

"I love taking underwater pictures as it is very peaceful and you have access to a hidden world which only a small minority of people gets to see."

A panel of experts judged the photos, which came from 23 countries and awards were given in three categories, macro, fish or marine animal portrait and wide angle.

A pretty pink anemone shrimp snapped by American Beth Watson grabbed first place in the macro section.

Cambridge University students taking part in the annual cardboard boat race on the River Cam on Sunday afternoon
Cardboard Boat Race, Cambridge, UK - 18 Jun 2017
Students at Cambridge University battled it out on the river in a boozy boat race today (Sun) as part of their end-of-exam celebrations.
Around 2,000 undergraduates lined the historic Backs in the city centre to watch 20 teams cause chaos in a cardboard box boat race as the sun shone on the hottest day of the year so far.
The students were seen creating their homemade rafts with cardboard, glue and gaffa tape before trying to float them down the river.
One of the boats was named after Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, The HMS Jeremy Corboat, and even had a photo of him on the front.
Many participants downed bottles of wine and beer before starting the race and struggled to stay onboard their rafts.
