Vukuzenzele / Sweet Home. Sweet Home in Cape Town was primarily a dumping ground for builder?s rubble like bricks, which are still being recycled today near the south end of the settlement. Services and conditions are poor. Vukuzenzele, just to the north, was developed in collaboration with a fund to provide affordable housing to South Africans. The visual difference between the two is stark
Unequal Scenes: Segregation of urban spaces in South Africa - 2016

A photographer has captured a stark view of the urban economic segregation in South Africa.
Johnny Miller has used drone technology to take an aerial view of the divide in standards of living between the poor and the wealthy.
His work highlights how the manicured suburbs of the middle classes sit only several hundred metres away from the ramshackle shanty towns of the poorest members of society.
An example include a God's-eye view of the picturesque suburbs looking out onto the glistening waters of Lake Michelle, 20km from Cape Town?s city centre. Separated by wetlands, a guard house and an electrified fence, the 38,000 inhabitants of the neighbouring tin shacks of Masiphumelele are a world away.

This WILL make you hungry!
A man loves his lunch so much he scans every sandwich he eats.
Jon Chonko's Scanwiches ongoing photo project sees him placing his lunchtime snacks directly onto a scanner.
By cutting the sandwich in half, the picturial results are mouth-watering glimpses of his deli delights.
The Brooklyn-based designer says his project is "for education and delight".
Jon says he has scanned more than 200 sandwiches, published a book and shown his work at several New York galleries.
Some of his latest range from a selection of tea sandwiches with the crusts cut off, to a simple Bologna.
There is also tasty-looking a Maine Lobster Roll, various burgers and a Uruguayan Chivito.

The library was funded by the American charity Friends of Mek?ele Blind School, who also bought and delivered a large number of braille textbooks. These range from topics including American Heritage, African Geography and English Language. Some textbooks are primarily braille, while others include written text alongside braille, allowing the sighted teachers to work collaboratively with the blind students. It is the only braille library in the whole of Tigray, and so the children are very fortunate to be able to use it
World Sight Day, Mek?ele Blind School, Ethiopia
Mek'ele Blind School in Ethiopia is home to around 100 children, whose companionship and passion for their education is inspiring to encounter.
Photographer Tom Pullen visited the school last year, which lies on the outskirts of the city of Mek'ele in the vast northern Tigray region of Ethiopia.

Mother polar bear (Ursus maritimus) with two coy (cubs-of-year) on multi-year ice floes in the Barents Sea off the eastern side of Heleysundet in the Svalbard Archipelago, Norway. An adult male weighs around 400?680 kg (880?1,500 lb) while an adult female is about half that size. The IUCN now lists global warming as the most significant threat to the polar bear, primarily because the melting of its sea ice habitat reduces its ability to find sufficient food. The IUCN states, If climatic trends continue polar bears may become extirpated from most of their range within 100 years. On May 14, 2008, the United States Department of the Interior listed the polar bear as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act.
