    Jul. 07, 1981 - Meeting Between The French President Mitterand And The West German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt in Bonn/West Germany On July 12th and 13th 1981, the 38th German-French consultations took place in Bonn. it was a fact of the first German-French summit meeting after the change of power in France. The meeting between the West German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt and the French President Francois Mitterand has shown a high degree of continuity in the relations of both countries. The seven ministers who accompanied the French President and the Prime Minister Pierre Mauroy have had parallel talks with their West German colleagues. The main subject of the 38th consultations have been the international economic summit on July 20th and 21st in Ottawa, the north-south-relations, the east-west-relations, the disarmament as well as the reform f budget and agriculture in the European Community.     Nov. 11, 1980 - The Ddr- writer Anna seghers (our picture) celebrates her 80th. birthday. The in Mainz/west germany borm one belonged to the Kpd since 1928 and 1933 she had to leave Germany. she went to france and 1941 at last to Mexicl. 1947 she went back to east berling and 1952 she became president of the Ddr writer association. Several time s she was awarded under all 1947 with the Buchner-prize, the national- prize of the Ddr, the national distinguished service order in silver and gold, the honorary doctor dignity of the university Jena and 1975 the honorary citizenship of east-Berlin. 1978 for reasons of health she resigned from her function as president of the writer -association and was elected to the honorary president. ( In our picture she was congratulate by Erich Honecker + Hermann Kant (behind), the second president of the Ddr - writer association.     Sep. 09, 1980 - Birthday of Franz Josef Strauss: 65 years ago, on Sept. 6th 1915, Franz Josef Strauss was born in Munich/West Germany. Strauss has been charter-member of the CSU in 1945, since March 61 he is chairman of this party. He belongs to the ''Bundestag'' since its foundation; at first he has been deputy-chairman of the CDU/CSU ''Bundestags'' - fraction. In Oct. 53 he became Federal Minister of Nuclears and in Oct. 56 he took over the office of the Federal Minister of Defence, In 1962 the successful career of the dynamic Bavarian politician was interrupted suddenly by the ''Spiegel''-affaire. But in 1966 he succeeded a political comeback, when he became Federal Minister of Finance in the ''Grobe Koalition''. Since 1968 Franz Josef Strauss is Bavarian Prime Minister. 1979 he was nominated as CDU/CSU candidate for chancellorship for the ''Bundastag''-election, taking place in Oct. 5th 1980.     Feb. 14, 1977 - Nikki Lauda receives the Golden award for world's bravest sportsman at the Guildhall: Nikki Lauda, the former world motor racing champion from Austria, received from the Lord Mayor of London Sir Robin Gillett, the Golden Laurel Wreath, during the luncheon on the occasion of the Presentation of the Victoria Sporting Club International Awards for Valour in Sport . Niki received nominations from five continents. The judges unanimously agreed he should be given the award. What evoked this response was a near fatal disaster at Numburging during the German Grand Prix, in which he received severe burns to his lungs and face and was given the last rights, but in six weeks he was back on the track racing again comming in fourth.
