Le Black Panther est l'un des robots quadrupèdes les plus rapides au monde (100 mètres en 10 secondes)
Picture MUST credit: Mirror Me A robotic dog that can run 100 meters in 10 seconds has been unveiled. The Black Panther 2.0 is now one of the world's fastest quadruped robots. The researchers took cues from the joints and paws of animals like black panthers and hopping desert rodents known as jerboas. These were used to improve the robot's high-speed movement in terms of strength, flexibility, power, precision and fluidity. The bot fitted with knee joint springs that act as shock absorbers To overcome the challenge of the robot’s legs breaking, researchers developed carbon-fibre versions inspired by the jerboa’s limbs. These increased stiffness by 135 percent with only a 16 percent increase in weight. The robot dog is also equipped with "running shoes" modelled after the claws of cheetahs, which enhances its grip performance by 200 percent. These are pads with tiny spikes to help with grip. Black Panther 2.0 is a collaboration team between China’s Zhejiang University and a Chinese startup called Mirror Me.

Un avion militaire à décollage et atterrissage verticaux voit le jour
Picture MUST credit: Bell A jet powered vertical take-off and landing transformer-style military aircraft that uses helicopter-style rotor blades to get airborne. When it is in the air, the rotors of the X-Plane fold away into their wing nacelles enabling the plane to put the power on. The aircraft is being developed by US aerospace and defence company Bell as part of a programme by the USA’s DARPA defence agency called SPRINT. Helicopters have the advantage of vertical takeoffs and landings in rough country but speed is limited. Jets have peed but need runways. Even vertical take-off jump jets require a flat landing surface. The SPRINT project is aimed at making an aircraft that can take off, land, and hover then transition into a jet when in vertical flight. Bell’s X-plane tilts its rotor nacelles forward after take-off for horizontal flight. They then fold back into the nacelle. Picture supplied by JLPPA
