  • Trump to be the face of US anniversary coin?

Trump to be the face of US anniversary coin?

The US treasury is planning to mint a $1 USD coin featuring Donald Trump to mark the 250th anniversary next year of American independence.
Draft designs show the president’s side-profile, surrounded by the word “liberty”.
The opposite side depicts him standing with a clenched fist in front of an American flag and the words “FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT”, which he shouted after surviving the assassination attempt last year.
Although a final design has not yet been decided on, the coin is intended to reflect the “enduring spirit” of America, according to a treasury department spokesman.
They said that while a final design has not yet been selected this first draft reflects the “enduring spirit of our country and democracy, even in the face of immense obstacles.”
Congress passed a law in 2020 authorising the treasury to issue $1 coins during the 2026 calendar year to celebrate the nation’s anniversary.
US treasurer Brandon Beach confirmed on X: “No fake news here. These first drafts honouring America’s 250th birthday and @POTUS are real."
OPS: The draft design for the special $1 USD coin.
