Rolling Stones legend Keith Richards has told how Sixties rivalry with the Beatles was cooked up between the two groups.

Richards, 79, made the revelation when he appeared on the Jimmy Fallon US talk show to promote Hackney Diamonds, the first Stones album of all new material in 20 years.

Paul McCartney plays bass in a track called Bite My Head off.

Fallon aid:” A Beatle and the Rolling Stones played on one song together for the first time.”

But Richards corrected him revealing his relationship with McCartney and John Lennon.

He explained:” First off, they gave us one of our first big hits, I Wanna Be Your Man.

“They were the ones that collared us and said, ‘Hey, we've got this song here, you know?’

“Our relationship with John and Paul and with the Beatles, it goes back to '62, ’63."

OPS: Keith Richards demonstrates his unique guitar style on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He playes a few bars of Honky Tonk Women, Start Me Up and Jumpin' Jack Flash. Fallon sang along in a Mick Jagger impression

Hackney Diamonds will be the British rockers’s first studio album in 18 years.
The announcement comes shortly after the band’s teaser campaign, which saw their instantly recognisable tongue logo projected onto iconic structures in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, and other major cities around the world.

Hackney Diamonds will be their first record without drummer Charlie Watts, who died in 2021 prior to the band's 60th anniversary tour, after suffering from throat cancer.
The star is known to have recorded new drum tracks before his death; and Richards has already confirmed his playing will form part of the new record.

The band will launch the record on Wednesday 6th September at a special event in Hackney, a place that is "at the heart of the new album", per a press release.
Hosted by Jimmy Fallon, the event will be streamed live on YouTube.
