'Eccentric doesn't cover it': dogs visit Santa Paws at John Lewis's pet grotto
The department store boasts its own grotto for pets to have some festive face time with Santa ... and business is brisk.

It turns out that parents and children aren't the only ones who want to have a face to face with Santa. Why should pets be deprived of this special experience, asked (some) dog owners?

Why indeed. John Lewis started the Santa Paws Experience last year, and it is back by popular demand in nine of its shops. More than 500 tickets have been sold so far - up by a fifth from 2022.

    Miniature Poodles Pickle and Punchy.

Close to 800 dogs, many of them dressed up in festive garb, have visited their very own Santa Paws in a special dog-only Christmas grotto held in Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire this weekend.
The two-day event, which was organised by park rangers working for Nottinghamshire County Council, has been running for three years.
Ranger Graeme Turner, who originally came up with the idea for a doggy-themed Santa's Grotto said this year has been the best so far.
“The queue is huge, it snakes back all the way round the visitor’s centre,” he said. “All the dogs are being very well behaved, I guess they don't want to get onto Santa Paw’s naughty list this close to Christmas!”
All canine visitors to the grotto got a special doggy bag full of treats and money raised from the event will go to Jerry Green Dog Rescue charity.
